For what it is worth heres is my opinion...

This is a board that is designed to be inclusive to all. Sex, Gender, Race, Creed...

If this is offensive to some it should be considered offensive to all. Therefore the BOTD should be toned down or removed all together if they are not toned down...

I agree that it is simple to say if it offends you don't click the link. But that does not resolve the problem it just justifies it.

Honestly and I hate to go here but just because a racial joke is funny that does not make it acceptable. In that same sense just because the BOTD is appealing to some does not make it OK for all...

As I've stated before this is a Sports Board not a PORN board if we lose the female posters over this then this site will quickly become something it was never intended to be...

So I say we tone them down or get rid of them altogether...

(Edited for my inability to spell)

Ok about the BOTD deal, I obviously enjoy them but if the chick posters object to it get rid of them, I dont want this place to turn into a sausage fest.

We had a stink a couple weeks ago about some of the ladies creating BOTD threads with pics of guys in them. I requested that they label theirs in a clear way such that I could see that it was a BOTD thread for women. The reasoning for this is that I could look at the thread title, see that it was something I didn't care for, and ignore the facking thread.

If you know the topic may be unsavory don't bother reading it. If you know that a show on TV may be offensive to you, don't watch it.

But noooooo, we have a situation here where somebody who doesn't like something wants to make it so that nobody can enjoy the thread. That type of mentality where the minority dictates the content of the site is something I thought NCAAbbs was against.

I have to agree with Karma on this one.

Personally, I couldn't care less about the BOTD's. It's always great to see semi-nude girls, but I find that there are usually so many BOTD posts that I skip them all. So, I really don't care much either way whether they stay or go.

But -- like Karma said -- it's clearly labeled BOTD. Even if a new poster checks it out and doesn't like it... well, now you know. Don't click on it anymore. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."

I do agree that I don't want to lose any posters on here, especially any of the females. We already don't have enough of them on here, so I would hate for something as petty as this to keep them away.

Do you really need to come here for that?

While it is true that they are clearly marked, and avoidable the point that really swayed me is that there are some young people visiting this site. I think that should be taken into account.

hey, everyone--I was up until almost 2 last night reasoning with this one--I would like to respond to some of these thoughts but the fact is I am too tired and exasperated-- at this point I am almost ready to say that it's just not worth the effort...

I like to look at naked/nearly naked women as much as the next guy...

HOWEVER... there is plenty of that crap on the internet already....

If it were soley up to me, I would say DROP BOTD.
Image transfer eats up bandwidth making the board slower for others..

True we have a lot of bandwidth.. but if the board ever gets really big (as we want it to) all that BOTD viewing might take its toll.

If you want to look at naked women, hit a porn site. There is no shortage of them available on the web (ive been told) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="smile.gif" />

OK how about this why don't we just move them from the Sports Bar to another forum or even possibly create a forum for them exclusively so it would take a deliberate action for someone to locate and look at them. That way those that want to can and those that don't want wont have the BOTD occupying the entire front page of the Sports Bar thus causing people not to post in the Sports Bar forum...

I agree with several others:

1) If I wanted to see nearly nekkid gals, I would just go see some nekkid ones

2) When I'm at work, they are all just red Xs anyway

3) I don't want this place becoming a Dude ranch

And don't even get me started on the 'Lets Play a Game' threads... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="rolleyes.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

Why do I get the feeling that by considering the sensitive age of some of our posters that we are slowly moving towards becoming a family site?

Reasonable arguments for removing the BOTD threads would include:

a) a very vocal majority of posters being against it. A minority of 6 or 7 posters being offended is not enough to sway me to vote against the BOTD.

b) bandwidth considerations. Alex is dead on that threads with pictures slow the site down.

c) The server where this site is hosted may be owned by a company which may not approve of this kind of content. THAT would be a very good reason.

Claiming that you are worried that some kid who you have never met, who exists behind a keyboard x miles away will log on and see a picture of a girl in a bathing suit is a stretch. Anyone who is taking a stand against this should be doing so because they themselves are worried about the influence of the content on them, not about how the content will influence someone else.

OkiDoc has the best idea so far. We can create a forum for content/discussion that is a little unsavory.

Call it the "Red Light District."

The fact that this discussion is happening is very positive to the growth of this site, to make sure that sports fans of all ages can be part of our community.

And LK, is the thought of being associated with a family site really that abhorrent to you?

Lucy - It's not that the thought of being a family site is offensive to me. It's that many of us here posted at ACCBoards, which is operated as a family site, for a long time. Part of the original intent of ACCbbs(Now NCAAbbs) was to distance ourselves from the "family site" moniker. Some of us found the rules at ACC Boards to be oppressive and overly sensivtive at times and we all came over to ACCbbs to get away from that nonsense. I think we have done a good job providing a community where 99% of the material posted here is allowed to remain. Only in a couple selective instances have posts been edited. Basically the posters do a good job of policing themselves.

Now, I do agree that in certain instances a picture may be overboard and need to be removed. I do not agree that we should put an end to all BOTD threads, or any other specific type of content which a vocal minority complains about.

Again, I say that letting the minority dictate the rules is somethign I don't think should happen here.
