RE: What have you been drinking lately?
UTCengOwl pointed me over here from the homebrew forum on Beer Advocate. I'm going to be brewing my first batch this weekend. After talking to people on BA and Ratebeer, I've tweeked my recipe and this is what I will be going with...

I'm going for a low-alcohol bitter that is hopped up and super dry hopped, with just a little roast in the back.
I'm thinking something along the lines of Surly Bitter Brewer, but with a little more roasted flavors.

steep for 30 mins with:
.5 lbs. 40L crystal
.5 lbs. chocolate

boil:
3 lbs. Dry Light Malt Extract
1.5 lbs. Dry Amber Malt Extract

1 oz. Magnum (60 mins)
2 oz. Cascade (Flameout)
2 oz. Centennial (Flameout)
2 oz. Amarillo (Flameout)

Wyeast 1318 yeast, ferment at 68.
OG: 1.042

dry hop in secondary on:
2 oz. Centennial
2 oz. Cascade
2 oz. Amarillo

That is going to have one hell of a hop aroma.... but I think it should turn out pretty interesting. How are you planning on controlling the fermentation temperature?

Also, one of the new local breweries in Austin is working on an oak-aged English mild called Commercial Suicide ( http://jesterkingbrewery.com/putting-com...ak-barrels ). I can't wait to try some of their beers.

I was going to buy a temperature regulator for my beer refrigerator and put it in there. Looks like I might just keep it in a closet, though, since my closet stays right around 65-70 and save the few dollars until next batch.

So. Very. Jealous.

I've been drinking a ton of homebrew lately, but I'm excited to go to Jester King's grand opening party. The Black Metal Stout is absolutely wonderful and their new release will be the same style as my last homebrew. In the words of Bart Scott, CAN'T WAIT!

Bud Light Lime tastes like Sprite with a little kick. When it came to that type of beer, I enjoyed Miller Chill more.

Went crazy at the Yazoo brewery in Nashville over the weekend. Drank a little bit of everything they offer, including a brew that changes with every batch. I think they were on #45 right now.

RE: What have you been drinking lately?
It was Domestic Mystery Beer night at the Lone Spur on Wednesday. They choose the beers, and bring them to your table in a paper bag. Once on the table, each drinker reaches in and takes a random beer.

Of the 4 beers I had last night, 3 were Coors Lights.

Jerks.
