Just a guess, but Villanova probably still wants to move up; but others might want Temple. Maybe a tradeoff. I can't see that Boise thing.

Amazing how that is considering their AD talked extensively about Big East on Saturday.

Time for us to learn how to defend the option and cut blocks I guess.

I can see Boise to shore up AQ after 2013. Boise helps AFA not be on so much of an island and let's face it nobody else wants Boise so I think they'd stick around. Then maybe you could pull in BYU to further solidify the "west island" teams......just my thoughts.

Disregard this entire post if the latest "no interest in AF" is true, which I doubt.

You don't come up with a definite plan like that publicly unless you already have everything in the bag. So the Big East already has backroom deals with who they want and just need to formalize everything.

one thing I've also noticed is that if one writer throws out a rumor all the other writers jump on it like wildfire... ONE writer said UCF and ECU by Friday.. they all followed... ONE writer has mentioned Nova... they all did follow up stories... now ONE writer mentions Boise and they jump on that bandwagon... NONE of them have insider info

Somebody should tell the Air Force AD that before he drops out of the MWC. In his candid interview on Saturday, he sounded like they already were going through with plans to dump their non-football sports somewhere else and join the Big East for football only.

It wasn't the "monitoring the situation" that you hear from the Navy AD. The Air Force guy sounded like it was an almost certainty.

Who's the insider source here? (No need to post the contents - I'm just interested in who ESPN is quoting.)

FWIW, my blog has been quoted on ESPN Insider before (fortunately with some stories about Nebraska last year that actually came true), so you can draw your own conclusions on what they use there. I'll freely admit to getting plenty of angles wrong over the past year, too.

That being said, I'm seeing SMU as a stronger and stronger all-sports candidate lately. If the BE believes their football program is essentially on par with the other C-USA candidates for the long-term, then their combo of academics and market makes them attractive.

I don't know, I don't have insider...maybe someone else here has it and can say who the source is.

Probably Craig James.

I can't speak for everyone but THIS won't draw flies in Louisville. It would be difficult to say what would be worse football or basketball. It won't keep the AQ bcs bid either.

Probably Craig James.

Given that ESPN is running this whole realignment fiasco, that's probably not a bad source to have.

Craig James' son scored a TD for Tech on Saturday. The entire stadium booed.

IMO the whole thing is Craig James' fault for telling his son to go to Tech in the first place

And if you stay in the Big East, your better options/lineups are what? The big East needs to get to 12 no matter what. Even if Louisville leaves, for that conference to survive it will need a lot of schools who are members before that happens.

In football, it's hardly a Northeastern conference anymore. We only have UConn and Rutgers in the NE. Cincinnati, Louisville, West Virginia, and USF are hardly northeastern.

Maybe bring in 2 more CUSA programs besides UCF and ECU, like Houston and SMU? CUSA has good football correct?
