Where did you get that information? Not the schools, but that the BE wants to expand by 6?

Of course, it could be more than 6 depending on what Mizzou does and Big 12 reaction.

TOP LIST:
(1) Air Force (FB-only)
(2) Navy (FB-only)
(3) Army (FB-only)
(4) Boise State (FB-only)
(5) Temple
(6) UCF

SMU, Houston and ECU also in consideration.

I really think getting all 3 service academies is the top line priority (and getting both Navy and Air Force at the very least) for the Big East.

Diesel Driving Academy has to be in that six, makes no sense not to add them.

1. AFA (fb only)
2. Boise (fb only)
3. BYU (fb only)
4. UCF
5. ECU
6. Navy (fb only)

AQ status secure, no reason to double dip the Philly market with a team that was kicked out.

If I was any of those candidate schools, I would not accept an invite until the current BE schools agree to either a steep buyout ($50 mil) or agree to give up their media rights for 10 years.

Why on earth would the BE have Temple AND Villanova for all sports?

I could see:
Navy, Air Force, Boise or the 3 Service Academies - Football only
UCF, ECU, Temple - all-sports

They won't agree to any substantive increase in exit penalties. Everyone will always want out fairly openly from here on out.

RE: BE to add SIX schools according to meeting today.. who are they?
If true, the six I would choose:

Air Force
Army
ECU (UCF as an alternate choice)
Houston (SMU as an alternate choice)
Navy
Temple

NORTH:
Air Force
Army
Connecticut
Rutgers
Temple
WVU

SOUTH:
Cincinnati
ECU (or UCF)
Houston (or SMU)
Louisville
Navy
South Florida

9-game conference schedule, everybody plays 5 games in their own division + 2 annual cross-divisional rivalries + 2 floating cross-divisional games.

I understand the logic here, but unless Villanova moves up to FBS (which no one should discount as being part of a 12-team plan), I really think the BE is hell-bent on getting a school in the Philly market for football. It's exacerbated by the fact that Pitt has left, meaning that there's no football presence for the conference in the entire state of Pennsylvania, which for a northeastern league is like having a southeastern-based conference without a Florida school or a southwestern-based conference without a Texas school. As a result, Temple is probably the school I'd wager the most money on as being a full member invite to the BE (albeit it's still a highly risky bet as the BE could go in a ton of wacky directions here).

ESPN Insider: Air Force is not a likely target for expansion. SMU is. 11:46 AM EDT

Temple is a much better choice than Nova.

If we go to a 12-team football conference, I just don't see how further hybridizing the hybrid can result in anything but a complete split from the basketball conference in the not-too-distant future.

Maybe we're about to go on a wholesale raid of CUSA...
SMU, Houston, Temple, ECU, UCF and UMass all for all-sports. Do a 12/20 split.
