No doubt. Road trips to Waco, Lubbock, Ok, Iowa, Kansas... will lose their magic very fast. Ugh. On the other hand, I can't wait to start hitting Memphis, Dallas, Houston, Orlando and even San Diego or Annapolis. What a difference. And say what you will about the BE being unstable, the B12 has been much closer to death TWICE in the last two years.
WV was making the occasional BCS bowl in the BE (usually via a BE 'tie'), but if they start to not make BCS bowls over the next 5-10 years... there may miss their 'glory' days. lol
Maybe a good move for WV in the short term, but easily could backfire. A big part will hinge on how stable and successful the NBE can become. The BE has been burned twice, will they learn enough to prevent a third time?
Sounds like wv will be texas' bitc# when it comes to anything involving decisions about the big12. Plus look for texas and three other teams to bolt for the pac 16 in a couple years.
The UT/Pac12 stuff isnt ever gonna happen. DeLoss Dodds said as much last week.
The only thing that keeps Texas from bailing on big12 is its LHN,if that doesn't provide them enough extra cash to match BigTen and pac12 they will leave

Yes but if ND has to join a conference the Big12 would not be among its top two choices. Now I could see an arrangement for all sports without football and that Would not move the tv contract in a major way for big12. ND prefers its eastern ties and playing in NYC etc than in the sw

never said they were joining the Big 12. Once again, bad things happen to everyone when Catholics and Texans get together. Wars start, Presidents get assassinated, and multiple conferences get demolished..

Two words: The Orangebloods.
bad things happen when Catholics and Texans get together.
How likely is that to happen though? In the unlikely event that top 15 programs unite from various leagues holes will need to be filled elsewhere in leagues that would still be #2-4.

its more likely today than it was 4 weeks ago and it is more likely when a broadcast network wants it to happen.

Are you able to share anything you're hearing from the UT side that's changed in the last month?
Of course this involves the Irish giving up their independence. While they could get more money that's true now as well. And while the money would be even greater with this super league, if you go just off athletic prowess, it'd involve plenty of schools Notre Dame sees below them academically. There's a lot to resolve there.

TV involvement is the biggest change. The chances of it happening are probably less than 50% but those are much better odds than I wouldve given in December.
BTW, if the schools I've heard are true then ND wouldn't be in the top half academically depending on what school rankings you use.

I should have phrased my previous comment as football prowess. If the academics are that strong then they aren't just forming a football super league.
The only FBS schools ahead of Notre Dame (#19) in the USN&WR rankings are Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, Rice, & Vandy. Other FBS teams in the top 30 are Cal, UCLA, USC, UVA, Wake, Michigan, & UNC. Texas, as usual, isn't as high as they see themselves, coming in at #45.
While I have no inside info and appreciate your thoughts on it I'd be pretty surprised to see a landmark depature from what we've always had in top level college athletics. This would certainly qualify.

6 of the schools you mentioned are being targeted. No SEC schools though.
