And how dominant have they been with that money. UCLA backed into the Championship game, for cryin out loud.
I'm still scratching my head over the Pac 12 taking Colorado. Seems like they should return them as damaged goods.

They won the league title in basketball in their first season. What does that say about the rest of them??

They suck in basketball?
But Colorado wasn't brought in for that. They were brought in for football, and they've been awful.

IMO, Colorado was brought in for TV market, and nothing else.

Adding teams for market value will help the television contract. But if the teams don't produce, that value will go down.
The Big East added a lot of teams for their markets. Now, we've all got to step up and produce.

Pac-10 invited teams in the Salt Lake (#33) and Denver (#18) TV markets (plus a Championship Game)....and their TV Contract Package (and their own future network) SOARED to over $20 Million per team.
Smart.

That wasn't quite my point. I wasn't even talkin of stealing pac 12 teams. Just competing for attention and market share.
Also homer Simpson there sort of left how UCLA got in the championship game.

What it says about them is that they're crap. If you include a couple games against Utah when the Utes were a member of the MWC, SDSU has a 9-game basketball winning streak against Pac-12 schools.
The Pac took Colorado because it hoped to get Denver to enhance its TV contract. And CU wanted to move to the Pac because Boulder is a left-wing town that never fit with the Republican politics of the B12 and because CU therefore has a lot of alumni from leftist California.
As to "raiding" the Pac, that isn't the issue. Instead it's that among the reasons for the Pac's massive TV deal is an absence of competition up and down the population centers of the West Coast, San Diego excepted. The Pac is too entrenched to change that too much but if the BE added both Fresno State and UNLV, along with Boise and SDSU, the BE would control the population centers between the coast and Phoenix/Tucson.

On crime and taxes, yes, but that's about it. And I'm a registered Democrat.
Do you disagree that California is leftist? Arnold got elected only because he was a moderate Republican who was in the right place at the right time when Gray Davis was recalled. We've had some other Republicans as governor too but the legislature has been dominated by the Dems for decades. And I live in L.A., which is hardly San Francisco politically but I believe all 15 members of the City Council are Democrats.

The big cities are leftist. The rest of the state is rather red.

Depends on the part. As you well know Ca is about 4-5 different states. LA and Orange County which is what people think of when u say California, Bay Area and the North Coast. Northern Mexico which includes San Diego, Southern Oregon, and Greater Oklahoma down the center of the State. BTW, not having a team in the valley is like not having a team in Oklahoma. If Oklahoma had no BCS representative do you think people would be interested?

No one is saying raid them. As the academic elite that won't happen but you can compete for viewers if you go all in. SDSU is not all in as it sits in one corner of the state. SDSU and Fresno now you are getting somewhere.

It isn't really entrenched in the valley either. Fresno covers the bulldogs heavily and you see very little PAC coverage even in Sacramento. It is really unrepresented territory at this point.

One was invited to the Big 12, while the other was left behind in the WAC when the MWC was formed.
That should be the end of the story right there...

North County San Diego is very much conservative Republican.

I thought someone said "attack" the Pac-12, which I guess I mistakenly read as "raid". I guess I'll drop it...

I only said it because you referred to one side as "leftist" and the other side as "Republicans," making it seem that being a leftist, or Democrat, is a dirty word or something
