As long as it's a home-and-home set-up, I think Pitt would be foolish not to push for this as well. Too bad it can't be a season-ending series.
Thoughts from Pitt fans?
Cheers,
Neil
I'm not a Pitt fan but as an outsider I would jump at the opportunity.
Its kind of strange that the two big football programs in Pennsylvania do not play each other. I'm having a hard time coming up with another state that does that?
I think with Pitt landing in the ACC that will do wonders for Pitt image and prestige. No doubt Penn State has blocked you guys from getting to the Big Ten but now that you are in a big time conference they pretty much have to recognize you.
They probably want to get you scheduled early so they can beat up on you before you start getting those ACC recruiting classes.

Ahh ok so it is that far away. In any scenario though that I have seen, Pitt is in a pretty good position. It is pretty safe for Penn State to schedule against you guys. I would love to see that turn into a well known in state rivalry.

I'm sure it'll be on the same level as other in state rivalries. It'll be interesting if it can regain its form that it was in the 70's and 80's.

Week 1 MAC/D1AA
Week 2 PSU
Week 8 ND
And PSU, would have MAC/D1AA, Pitt, and Pac 12 as its OOC.
If this comes about, even if it isn't annually but 6 times out of every decade, this has to be exciting times for Pitt fans. Especially when you add VT and Miami to the ticket as well. You guys might actually average 55K+.
Cheers,
Neil

Don't see Pitt dropping ND, especially since that game tends to be an early November/October match-up whereas PSU would be a week 2 or week 3 match-up, perhaps some years even a Labor Day weekend opening match-up.

I say we'll average 60K+... A few years under Wanny we averaged 55K+. I'd say that VT draws more in Pittsburgh than Miami does.
This Home Slate would be mean...
MAC/D1AA
ND
VT
North Carolina
Georgia Tech
Syracuse(crossover rival)
Maryland(crossover)

Sorry, should have clarified, actual 55K+ fannies-in-the-seats attendance, not makeshift tickets sold bought up by ND alums to get into the ND-Pitt game.

If the choice comes down to ND or PSU, I'm 99% sure we'll take PSU. In we, I mean the Pitt athletic department. PSU is our biggest rival and quite frankly with losing the Backyard Brawl the only game that can make up for that by having an even bigger significance is PSU.
It would be nice to play ND and PSU every year, and perhaps that can happen. In the event that it can't, however, I just feel as though the choice will be clear and PSU will trump ND.
