Who doesn't beat us in basketball? Besides y'all were the CUSA reg season champs. No excuse not to beat us. It wouldn't surprise me if our Coach in baseball is gets fired but that's another conversation. We've won 2 of the last 3 in football. Y'all had a great sports year regardless, congrats.

Look, my point wasn't to down USM. I just didn't see the OP's point of the blatant flame on UNT and LA Tech when USM's facilities aren't all that much better. My post wasn't a ECU vs. USM smack even though that's what you've tried to turn it into.

You can tell a lot about the fan bases (and seems we found the one idiot pirate fan/most are cool as ice) from the replies. LaTech says it's getting better. UNT acts like I am crazy to not have been impressed.

I'm just spoiled by our stadium so it wouldn't be fair for me to make a judgement. Only conference stadiums I have been in are UAB's and Memphis' for bowl games. Can't say I was impressed with either. I'm sure both UNT's and La Tech's are alright.

Wow, you start a thread basically saying that your wife was not impressed with the facilities at La. Tech and North Texas. What was the point? So you drove down a service road and made a quick judgement of Apogee, good for you. As the Houston fan mentioned, the place is nice. The parking situation is being improved upon as we speak since construction has already begun on the pedestrian walkway over the interstate.

If you're trying to convince yourself that UNT's facilities aren't good enough for C-USA, I hope that works out for you. If you and your family aren't too high-brow for UAB, Tulsa or the like, you all will be fine. Jeez, what a welcome.

Yes, that looks like a Texas high school or MS small college.

Please show me a Texas high school or a MS small college with those types of athletic facilities.

How about one h.s. from MS and one h.s. from Texas?

Yeah I think your crazy to not have been impressed. I watched Apogee stadium being built through my trips through DFW when I lived in Oklahoma. I wish the Rock was as nice. Maybe if you had seen Fouts Field you would have an idea for comparison but Apogee is definitely in the top 4 stadiums in CUSA 3.0. As far as everything else NTU is a urban campus. Its nice. Not out of line with any of the other campuses of public schools in the league. Also their basketball facility is better than ours and not a little better A LOT BETTER. I dont see the reason to knock on UNT.

As far as Tech, as a person who attended several games at Alliet I will tell you there is still work to be done but its coming along. I wish USM had something as nice as the TAC and as far as campuses are concerned Tech and USM are very similar in building age and the upgrades they have had the last few years. I bet you UAB (no offense to UAB but they dont have an on campus fb stadium) would love Alliet or UTSA (if they wanted one on campus). Its a very servicable stadium and is not very far below MM Roberts.

It says "special teams" by your handle, my friend.

Look, I hope y'all keep growing and get there. But you are telling me joe blow pulls up on your campus and feels big time college athletics? You are delusional. No slam, and I know from the chip on UNT fans' shoulder that that will not be taken any other way, but perception is reality.

We did not go to Texas to see future C-USA schools, but to visit family in Dallas. On the way en route we took a moment to show her LaTech, and while close to Denton this weekend went by UNT. Her reply when we pulled up at UNT, after already having seen LaTech? "Oh, baby! Are we having to drop to Division 2?

I like the Tech football program, and like Villareal (Mean Green AD who used to be at USM). And I had been sipping Kool-Aid hyping the newbies to make myself sleep at night, but her honest opinion at simply glancing football facilities caused me to pause and exhale.
___________________________________________________

Perhaps a trip to Pearl Vision Center may have been in order before yall took that trip to Denton?

Perception is reality with some but an obvious bias with the main message and intent of this thread is what most of us would call a most definite agenda and good old fashioned ignorance to accompany that agenda.

Fact is, La Tech cannot touch North Texas in comparable faclities and they know it.

Former Dallas Cowboy Super Scout Gil Brandt On North Texas' New Apogee Stadium:
"It's a Taj Mahal. It is an unbelievable facility. I think I've been to every college stadium that's ever been built and this is really, really something special. I came up here a week ago just see it, and the attention to detail is unbelievable.........

A Big 12 Conference Interim Commissioner Chuck Neinas Quote: " I would say based on what I know about facility construction, they are getting a [great] deal for $78 million. It will be a top-notch venue that will complete their athletic complex."

There are sections with what appears to be about twelve rows in this stadium. How silly of my mind to go to a h.s. or juco stadium. Yes, I sure wish the Rock was as cool as that.

For real, brah?

Everybody has an opinion. I've never see it in person but in photos I think it looks really nice. I like the looks of UNT's basketball arena as well.

Thanks Marshall and with that of which is most obvious............we rest our case.

Actually, best part of Apogee Stadium is its strategic location. 100,000 interstate commuters drive by it daily and many have pulled over to take a much closer look than the wife of the one who posted this thread obviously did and best part of all that is the Texas HS potential recruits who pulled over for a close-in look and what basically turns into an "unofficial" visit to our campus.

Did you really just compare Petals Stadium and Apogee? Really. Did you stop and go in or did you just drive by? I've been in both and Petal's stadium isnt even close. Not by far. As far as the Rock its 70's era concrete monster. The end zone expansion is nice and the stadium overall has a much better feeling these days but Apogee is a sports car and the Rock is a hummer. Not even in the same category. New and sleek, versus old and boxy. Dont get me wrong I prefer the Rock but no one other than USM fans look at it and think man thats a great stadium.
