Why does everyone think VT should play Clemson?

Instead of putting two teams that sell out their stadiums against each other and two that can't sell out against each other.

How about you mix them up so the ones that can sell out a stadium help the attendance at ones that can't.

How about this:

How about the schools that are notorious football schools sell out their stadium regardless of the opponent like South Carolina is known for.

(VT, I'm sure this doesn't apply to you guys)

Easy to do when the conference opponent is bringing a bunch of fans. Not so easy to do when the conference team fans come in two 16 passenger vans.

Just how many seats does Clemson allocate for visitors for each game?

It's a shame that Clemson can't sell out their own stadium with their own fans like they used to.

Sounds about right.

Honestly other than FSU, GT, and VT we probably should just send the conference teams the 2k we send the in-state FCS teams.

At VT, unsold tickets get returned to the school and sold without any problems.

It's nearly impossible to get ANY tickets to see Va Tech in Lane Stadium unless you are either a booster or a student. Casual fans... fuhgedabowdit!

Weaver has done a pretty good job recognizing that more supply (seats) equals less demand per seat. If you lose that demand for seats it can cause an 80k seat stadium to bring in less than a 60k seat one.

I'm not convinced, but let's say you are correct - 80K seats are too many. Would an extra 5k - 10k seats kill anyone? VT is not an elitist school, so why be elitist when it comes to home game seating?

If you ever get to the situation that season tickets aren't necessary to attend then you'll see a huge drop in donations and season ticket sales.

Now that our woods are sacred, I doubt you see any expansion.
