Notre Dame will join ACC as full member w/exception of football. ND will play 5 football games annually vs. ACC, sources told @ESPN

Hopefully this means that the schools that don't play ND has an 8 game conference schedule.

Hopefully there is some path to full membership in a few years as well.

WOW.

1) As good a compromise as could be reached. ND giving up 5 games of a 12 game schedule = "impressive" given how much they cherish independence.

2) the New Big East is officially C-USA 3.0 -- and stever, any attempts to tell me otherwise will be met with a "talk to the hand" gesture.

it's actually closer to C-USA 1.0 quite frankly!!!

it's going to be very interesting to see if this is only move. Could we see 1 more add, or 3 5 team divisions in hoops?

Hopefully this means the end of BB only additions. Three 5 team divisions seems interesting though.

I certainly hope that Presidents Barker and Barron have submitted a proposal for partial membership for Clemson and FSU with a 5 game football agreement as well.

The even bigger news is that the conference agreed to raise the exit fees to $50M. No defections to the B12, all conference members are committed to the league.

+10000. If there isn't a road to full membership, this needs to happen right now. Especially if ND can pick and choose their 5 opponents. Why should they get to house all their other teams and get this preferential treatment if other members can't do the same?

Then I will imagine either heads will roll at Clemson or you are getting ready to see our athletic department have serious financial trouble. IPTAY isn't going to be happy with this one bit.

That must mean the opponents rotate regularly then. 14 member schools getting to play them once every 3 years. 5 games a year means only 15 ACC games over the 3 year span. That is at least nice if they can't pick and choose their opponents freely.

I am all for adding Georgetown now too. That is a good rivalry with Syracuse in bball and good for college sports. Need another partial to balance it out. I really do hope this is full membership soon though. Would love ND plus another full and then get Georgetown for now and another partial for later.

What is interesting about that is that it means there would only be 1 team that would play ND 2x in a 3 year span. That means that ND playing Pitt for instance every year is over.
