Ok, I can see where BYU and Air Force are the top two leading candidates out west but the real issue with ECU is basketball and market size. I know we like to play around with Pirate fans but I think ECU football would step and win if given more money and better tv contract.

If ECU was 14 you get a very nice East-West split; however, Cincinnati and Louisville would have to travel a ton but that side would be way too strong most seasons. As a Bearcat fan I might live with added travel because our home schedule would probably include Louisville or Boise State each year. Altought I really think a western team will be 14 but maybe 16 is where this is going.

East:
Temple
Rutgers
Uconn
Navy
ECU
USF
UCF

West:
Cincinnati
Louisville
Houston
SMU
Memphis
Boise State
SDSU

We're making a huge commitment to basketball, have a great coach now, and are stepping it up.

Yea, yea, yea, that's the same thing ECU said when it was invited to CUSA when UC, Louisville, Marquette, Saint Louis and Memphis were in it. "We have a great coach, we've renovated our arena, we are making a huge commitment to basketball." Never happened. ECU stunk virtually every year. Huggins hated going to ECU because it damaged UC's strength of schedule at a time when we were routinely playing every year for #1 and #2 seeds in the NCAA tournament.

Give us football only then.... I don't really care

They're never getting in. Go back to your C-DOA boards and talk smack with the UTSA fans.

If we get in, I want to meet you personally

You won't have to worry about it, because you're not getting in.

I would think that ECU would have a very good chance in getting in if the Bowl President is promoting them?! Let's face it BE is wanting to secure a bowl-tie-in so if the President of the Bowl Game is saying that the they like ECU for the #14 I would think that the BE would be considering them very seriously!

Steve Ehrhart has absolutely zero influence on who the Big East takes as #14.

If we need ECU to secure a Liberty Bowl bid, this conference is in a HELL OF A LOT more trouble than I ever envisioned.

That said, I don't think it comes down to ECU in the end. If it does, if it is FB only, oh well... if all-sports, then WTF??? 01-wingedeagle

You are correct sir. Those of us that have followed the program for decades know that in 2015 CUSA will enter the DEAD ZONE for us when the new members come in. I have nothing against them, but it is going to be very hard for ECU to recruit quality athletes with this schedule to show them. Ticket demand will also languish. A BE schedule? Everything changes completely.

I don't believe this mess one iota...but...you can bet that ECU will not say no to ANY offer.

I don't think he made anything up. Not his style. I think he is aware that some eastern teams are pushing for ECU.

I just think he was surprised by the huge reaction to his comments, so he backed down, to not make it seem like he was speaking for Aresco or putting any more weight into ECU's candidacy. That's my take.

He and the Liberty Bowl have been long time supporters of ECU, so either way I appreciate hearing him on the radio talking us up.

Yes...I appreciate his comments.

The BE doesn't need ECU for the Liberty Bowl. They're getting that, anyway. It's coming with Memphis.

Yes they are, but you can tell who the LB wants to be 14 if you just listen to them talk

I agree, but Ehrhart is not a BE president. I think it's true that a couple of eastern teams are pushing for ECU. I just don't think ECU will garner enough votes. It still looks like BYU or AFA to me.

The Liberty Bowl did take the CUSA champ when Memphis joined. And it's taking a Big East team now that Memphis is moving to the Big East. They know that if they want locals to buy tickets to the game, it helps to be friendly with the local FBS school.

It's funny seeing Memphis fans talk trash about ECU's football team while their team is 6-36 over the last four years.
