If UNLV declines (and I don't believe for a second they will) they will be doing the league a favor. It will signal that they have NO commitment to moving forward and becoming relevant in FB.

Fact is CBS will be good shape if they re-do the MWC TV deals because nBE is looking to piece meal their sports which in the long run will cost more money to the networks... if CBS re-does the MWC they will only have to offer enough money ad include BSU and SDSU in that deal to make the nBE deal not worth the spilt in sports and travel... I think the MWC has the upper hand in that re-nogotiation deal.

Well, I believe the same Dodd article indicates there is probably not a new MW deal coming. It sounds like CBS doesnt think they have to renegotiate and isnt buying he MW argument that there is any requirement to do it. My guess, if there is a renegotiation, it comes at the price of a bunch of extra years added to the back end of the deal.

Why say anything? It seems that presidents and AD's only make statements when something is happening....

No need to re-confirm commitment if no talks are occurring...

Add BYU, whom has not denied MWC talks, and the MWC wins the tug of war.

I agree UNLV wouldn't take a football only bid. And we would be stupid to offer them one. But I bet if we're even talking, it's all sports, and they would take that.

Having been in that league and seen one horrendous train wreck of a tv situation after another, and having dealt with CSTV/CBS owning that contract the last 6 years - of course there isn't going to be a new tv deal. Why would there be? Who would add money to a deal after losing Utah,BYU, TCU, Boise and SDSU? Outside of Fresno, AFA, and UNR, the rest of the teams weren't really even on the cbs cable/nbc cable part of the deal.

The only direction that deal is going, is down.

And by the way, the AD of UNLV admitted in the LVRJ that he has been in contacts with Big East ADs about joining
