I doubt they are talking to the MWC at all

Give the c-7 all the $$$. Cincy and Uconn are half out the door anyway.

Cincy and UConn (and USF for that matter) are going nowhere any time soon, unfortunately. They have nowhere to go otherwise they would already be gone. I don't care how many Christmas cards UC sent out, unless the ACC gets raided, they aren't adding any teams, period. You can't have your foot out the door unless you have some type of invite. Until the Big 10 decides to make further moves, no one is going anywhere. That's just a fact.

So basically, the C7 want the early exit and the name for 15 million. Give them the early exit and 40 million. We keep 60 million and the name. Newbies get no entry fee, the conference gets 6 million, and USF, UConn, and Cinci keep 18 million each. Works for me.

They probably are, but not like they were in January.... Doubt anything happens, but who knows? These things turn on a dime...

I would be fine with this deal also. I have no problem with newbies getting more money, as long as we get our share.

To rehash the article

The Offer
--C7 = $15 million + Big East Name
--8 Incoming Schools = $8 million (UH,SMU,UCF,ECU,Navy,Temple, Memphis,Tulane)
--League Admin = $5 million
--3 Current Schools = $72 million (USF,Cincy,UCONN)

What we don't know
--Does the $100 million include entry fees from the incoming schools (someone may know this, I don't)

Per the Jersey guy article the $100 million does not include entry fees from the incoming schools. The article says $70 million from EXIT fees & $30 million from b-ball tourney credits. (Again, all these #s are per the Jersey guy.)

I can't imagine UCONN, Cincy & USF asking for entry fees from the 8 incoming schools on top of the huge $ they are taking from the $100 mil. fund.

Doesn't work for me. If the c-7 stays unti 2014, then we all share the $$$. The 3 are screwing us. They want the c-7 out in 2013.

Funny---the c7 were allowed to bit early so the od guard gets to keep all the money.

My question, what input did the new schools get ( or allowed to have?)

Aresco is pushing for this so he must be getting a cut from the 3 to get this done asap.

lol...well theres a reason they are agreeable to the C7 leaving early--so thats happening. Honestly, just keep the name and Im good. Maybe the newbies are getting the shaft, but as long as we keep the name Im fine. But getting the shaft and losing the name is bad. I cant imagine it would be well recieved by any incoming schools administration. As has been pointed out, maybe there is more to the deal---so, no reason to get nasty. But if the deal is as reported---a rising level of crankiness on this board will be the least of the Big Easts problems.

My question, what input did the new schools get ( or allowed to have?)

The UH President was in Atlanta for the meeting on Friday. But none of the new schools has a vote yet.

According to UHCougar:

"As it's been explained to me, the three football schools and the incoming schools are far, far apart on how exit fees, NCAA credits, money from the sale of the Big East name, etc. is going to be divided. . . from what I'm told, Aresco just didn't have a clue about how the individual presidents would react . . ."

Getting this done early is big $$$ for the 3 and it steals from the newbies. Think about it. If the c-7 stays another year, we all get the $$$ and the name vote or more $$$.

I'm for starting a new league. We aren't leaving much on the table. If the big east blows up there are no exit fees.

The three leftovers are losing the most in the conference realignment. They deserve the money more than any incoming school.

Like Ive been saying.....no way an incoming school president would willingly agree with this.

F that. 2 of the 3 are half out the door. They are purposely getting the c-7 out in 2013 so they don't have to share $$$. Remember 2 of the 3 can care less about the name since they will be gone.
