I would prefer Southern Miss to Tulsa. Tulsa is a great school, I just think Southern Miss brings more of a rivalry than Tulsa. From what I gather on this board however, is that most USM fans and their AD, would turn down an invite to the A-12 very quickly.

OU and oSu will block Tulsa from the Big 12. Southern Miss can't even get the A-12 or MWC to give them a look.

This is true - they vetoed us last time our name was even brought up in the last rounds on Big XII discussion.

But I think that attitude was based on the previous notion that the exit fees for C-USA were high and the entrance fee to A-12 was $2.5 million. Now with the apparent waiving of entrance fees to the A-12 and the realization that the C-USA media rights deal is not changing, the exit fee will be less than thought. I'd say they would accept.

Interesting. On another note, do you think UTEP fans and AD would like to get into the MWC? I have always thought UTEP was a sleeping giant in Texas.

we're paying a guy $2 million freaking dollars to coach for someone else. the money is there if the situation is right.

The fans wouldn't have a say in it.

Here's my stance on us changing conferences.. I'm for it if it betters us.. If it keeps us the same stay where we are.

I don't believe that at all. USM has a bigger name in Cusa football than any other school. A flop in one year doesn't mean zilch for conference realignment.

Hate to be brutal about it, but USM didn't get picked because it's 1) in Mississippi and the biased powers that be view it as some small backwoods college and 2) it's in a small town.

Had nothing whatsoever imho to do with USM's athletic prowess, just bias unfortunately.

Don't be surprised if the SEC preempts a Big 10 strike, but even if they or or they don't the Big Ten is getting a southern-based school. And when they do all hell is going to break lose. If UConn, Cincy, USF, UCF and even Temple and/or ECU end up in the ACC after it has been picked like a vulture by the SEC, Big Ten and Big 12 what will Houston, SMU, Memphis and Tulsa do?

Thinking long term it's hard not to imagine the remnants merging with the MWC. C-USA may even get Tulane back and consolidation continues with one less conference in play.

.....Cusa. I see a pecking order of Bigs/..Sec..taking ACC.....ACC taking.....nBE....nBE taking Cusa......Mwc trying to take nBE/Cusa......Cusa.....take other lower-level conference. No.... nBE is not going anywhere....may be new name (sold BE name for $100 million to C7) but unless you are Bigs or SEC every conference must be looking over its shoulder.

They will go as soon as they get an invite, to whomever invites them, and it WILL happen. Don't know when, but it will happen...

Navy has a very successful football program and a lot to be proud of.


I have no ideas who the 12th will be, but I would certainly welcome Tulsa or USM as great additions while the A-12 tries to build something.
