As much as I would love for that to happen, the SEC bias is just too thick right now...

I figured out how the SEC increases the hype machine. They (the coaches) just keep rival conference mates ranked. By doing that, the SEC's upper-tier teams will look good after beating another ranked opponent. The media's perception grows because they see it as a 'quality win' against a ranked opponent.

Lou, you are correct that UofL cares about winning in football. Currently, Strong is the 7th highest paid coach in the nation and the culture is changing. We are averaging over 54,000 people at our home games and will be sold out for every ACC game. The goal is to be a perennial Top 25 team and who can compete for a conference championships. We realize that it will be a challenging transition.[/align]

The ACC has more of a chance of improving football and knocking at the SEC in college football than the SEC does at knocking at the ACC door in college basketball. Therefore I think overall the ACC has potential to be the #1 conference in college athletics.
