GO OWLS!

And you don't think people get better in some aspects of their jobs over time? Training under Saban is a good start...

Meh, not impressed with him as a candidate.

I am sticking with Wright as #1 and Gran at #2.

Gran I would at least understand because he has big time experience although his frequent shifting teams gives me pause.

So a guy who has been the head coach of USC and Ole Miss isn't experienced enough? There are a dozen schools that would like a guy like this to lead their team.

I wish Tech would fire Holtz to have a chance at Orgeron

Coach O played many games against Tech when he was at Northwestern State. The guy is a players coach and would give us a tremendous recruiting advantage. However we are stuck with Holtz until he completely drives our program into the dirt.

Except that FAU could never afford Ogeron anymore than we could afford Nick Saban, Butch Davis, etc, etc, etc.

I disagree. 600 to 80 will sign him and he just wants to be an HC again so you might could get him on a deal

All signs point to Stan Drayton. RT @coachingsearch: A source tells me Ohio State assistant Everett Withers will not be the guy at FAU.

Good to have an AD that knows football. His offensive mind was pretty shallow.

It seemed to me like Carl was micromanaging the offense because it seemed the offense was much more effective once Coach Wright took over...regardless it seems that Ohio State RB Coach Stan Drayton will be the new Head Coach at FAU

Does it seem odd to the FAU posters that the school would hire a coach with no HC or coordinator experience? Drayton is a good recruiter and should do well in that regard, especially in So FL, but it seems that a more experienced candidate would have been sought.

I obviously do not know the internal workings there are what the scuttlebutt might be, so I am not trying to stir up controversy, I just would have expected FAU to both want to, and be able to, hire someone with a more complete resume.

If the choice was Drayton or Brohm from WKU, I wholeheartedly support the Drayton choice.

RE: FAU looks to name new coach by Dec 8th...
Drayton does hold the title of Assistant Head Coach. I think a coach needing to have "coordinator experience" is a bit of a myth. I suppose it is nice to have, but not necessary. Below is a list of some of the current coaches that never were a coordinator at the college level prior to getting a HC job:

Urban Meyer
Art Briles
Dabo Swinney
Doc Holliday
Curtis Johnson
Pat Fitzgerald
Brady Hoke
Darrell Hazell
Tony Levine
