Any buy-out money?
Sounds like you may be happier in the long run with better coach.Suggestion: Mike Summers -new offensive line coach at Florida.

???
Every SBC Head coach except Todd Berry is making around the same or more than McGee was reported to make at UAB.
I highly doubt that Alabama Board would give UAB more funds to hire a head coach.
UAB pays more than every Sunbelt school except 2 (ASU and La-La). Not counting WKU since they will be CUSA this year.

I believe Jones and Berry are both getting raises...and I mistakenly believed that UAB paid 450.
None of them would leave for UAB though. I'm not even sure John Thompson would take that job right now and he's unemployed.

Blakeney and Fran aren't going anywhere, USA and NMSU could both likely affordto match that $550k, not really sure about Idaho.

If I were UAB, I'd call Cristobal...though he may be already making nearly as much or more as a position coach at Bama.

Idaho could match, or come close. They seem happy with him.

Regardless of the job McGee was doing this will not look good from a national perspective for UAB.

This was my first thought. Fans will be calling for Houston Nutt and Oregeron though, I'm sure...

We all know why UAB struggles like they do. My question is could you football team be more competitive on the FCS level. I have always been surprised Bear Jr. Has never tried to force you guys down. Lord knows he isn't going to allow success at the FBS level.

Trying too hard, we can pay a coach 550,000 + the only coach in the belt I would want is Hudspeth tho and he likes ULL

That sucks for UAB. Choosing to go with BP rather than stay as HC? Writing on the wall or not, that is a major sign of disrespect. Sorry.

UAB can not hire a current FBS coach. Next guy will be a current assistant or FCS guy.

I'd call him as well. But there's a specific problem with that call related to UAB.
If Alabama is happy with him, its real easy to have the UAB board reject the hire. If they want to let him go, then you know that UA really wasn't impressed anyway.
Its pretty obvious by this point that UA's board is trying to stifle UAB's football program.

Good riddance. I would've run him off after the infamous "Roll Tide" tweet.

He's a good coach. In 2012-3 he was the DC at South Alabama. South's defense was the only good thing about the program that year.
