C-USA adds new tv contract with Sinclair Broadcast group
Saw this just a few minutes ago on twitter. Not sure yet what money or exposure will come of it but it looks like the intention is to have a network of a variety of tv outlets. '

FINALLY. The syndicated network I've been screaming for (I hope anyway).

Side note...that's an odd network name since there is a conference called The American.

Cool. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I doubt it really means any extra money for our schools, but more exposure is always nice.

I know with Charlotte's games on the local CW affiliate (was the Fox affiliate when we signed on with them) we get 70% of advertising revenue from commercials during the game.

This is interesting. Was just about to start a thread myself, after seeing it on Twitter. I'm sure this won't bring in big bucks but it has to bring in some $. Is this another reason why we haven't seen anymore updates for TV & time for the upcoming FB season?

You have one in KY. WDKY out of Lexington.

Also I'm not sure if you pick up WNAB out of Nashville there in Bowling Green.

One in Lexington, KY and one in Nashville, which is pretty close to you guys.

Also, the article claims they will be networking with other broadcast outlets so I'm hopeful they will cover every C-USA area plus other regions.

This is great news guys. If this means we get to watch more C-USA games in our local markets our brand only grows in those markets. It's very exciting if they really air all our games that aren't picked up nationally.

So does this mean we have given up on FS1 and 2 already?

Doubt Fox56 would show anything not UK related on that channel, look for that to change....Would be good for me though if WKU games were on that channel every once in awhile....

RE: C-USA adds new tv contract with Sinclair Broadcast group
Doesn't matter because it is easy to syndicate to other affiliate stations.

For example, WCCB (local CW affiliate in Charlotte) broadcasts all of Charlotte's home games for the next two years, and they'll probably pick up many away games this year as well since they're all in NC/SC.

They said they'd make their broadcast available to any other CW affiliate that wanted to syndicate it. When we played Coastal Carolina last year, the game was picked up in Columbia and Florence, SC on their local CW stations, I believe. There might have been a third station involved as well in the Myrtle Beach area.

Why would it mean that? This is very likely Tier 3 rights. Fox and CBS will still get their pick of games. CUSA probably sees the writing on the wall though in terms of exposure. With ESPN selling AAC games to CBS, our ability to get games on CBS Sports is diminished. Unless Fox decides to start utilizing Fox Sports 2 differently, then we're not going to see many games there either.

Since I live in Owensboro KY about 60 miles from BG and have DirectV it's useless to me

Will all of the games shown on TV no matter the station be on the CUSA digital network? Also are they archived?

Not sure about this new network, but I don't believe CBSSN or FS1 games are shown on the C-USA Digital Network.

I could be wrong, I've never subscribed.

CUSA fans are sitting nice with this. Pick up the old casual SEC fans without cable to start watching CUSA games that are pulled by the SEC Channel AND no longer have a need to pay for cable yourselves and save $100 per month. When the couple CUSA games for your team are shown on FS1, then walk down to the sports bar and have free wings and beer paid for by Comcast with the money you'll be saving. I wish the MAC would do this.

RE: C-USA adds new tv contract with Sinclair Broadcast group
This is certainly great news for most of our programs. Hopefully all games not picked up by Fox or CBS Sports will get carried in our local markets on these stations. I believe all of our programs have Sinclair stations except for Rice, North Texas, LA Tech, and Southern Miss.

This is what I've found Please correct me if I'm wrong about the stations availability in your local market.

UAB -CW21 Birmingham
FAU&FIU -CW34 out of West Palm Beach (Can y'all get that station?)
WKU -Fox23 out of Paducah
Charlotte -CW22 out of Raleigh
Middle Tenn -CW58 out of Nashville
UTEP -Fox14 El Paso
UTSA -CW35 San Antonio
ODU -Fox35 out of Richmond
Marshall -Fox11 Huntington

Dallas and Houston have CW stations, but they are owned by Tribune. Sinclair might place our games on those stations.

Shreveport has a CW station, but it is locally owned. Sinclair could do the same for them.

I couldn't find anything in the Hattiesburg area for Southern Miss.

So I don't guess this new TV deal matters first season for WKU as only one game is being shown but I think I will like this deal once we know what specific channel its on and if I can get it on Direct TV....Hard to believe our game at MTSU will not be picked up anywhere by TV......

Pretty sure BOwling Green has the CW network and does not have any affiliates in Paducah....Paducah in relation to BG might as well be in North Carolina somewhere....

Charlotte has its own CW station, so we do not get CW22. We have CW18 in Charlotte. It is independently owned by a local group. Raleigh is 200ish miles from Charlotte anyway, so we wouldn't be local to there even if we didn't have our own network.

It does seem like this will put our games on in the Triangle area though and that is a great thing. Our ratings were great in Charlotte last year. We were #1 in the noon time slot for almost every game last season.
