what's it cost to get one of those aerial banners? Assuming UAB gets to play next season, I'd love to see an airplane towing a banner over the stadium, reading "UABOT = Cowards" or something similar.

It sets a precedent for the bigger schools to hunt and kill the smaller schools. We here in Louisiana and our neighbors to the north in Arkansas would be prime candidates for this. God help us.

If I step back from it, if the plan is that UAB basically becomes focused as a premiere Medical school and UAT becomes the general undergrad school I can see where that would create certain economic efficiencies. Doesn't mean it sucks any less for UAB alums and fans, or is right just because it helps cover mismanagement. The big loser is Birmingham losing the economic impact of having all those undergrad students spending money somewhere else.

Sad times.

Don't take this analogy the wrong way, but to me it's similar to what has been done with high school consolidation across many states. I'm not sure that's in the best interest of communities and students either, but has kind of become a fiscal necessity.

This makes me sick to my stomach for UAB fans. So sorry you guys have to go through this.

President Ray Watts is supposed to be the person making the announcement.

The BoT is handling this in such a poor manner. They made up their mind and never gave the fans, alumni, or students a chance to have a say. You can tell it's not about the program, support, or money because they would listen to them and see the huge increase in attendance and the donors willing to give millions.

Getting rid of the undergrad is even more shocking. It's like they used football as decoy and then included the undergrad hoping no one would see. I'm sure they'll drop the UAB name and lump the med school under the Alabama banner to give them a med school.
