I find it funny that people seem to treat it as an insult to be called a basketball school. Like it makes you less manly or something.
It's not that, it's just we like all our sports and we have a rich heritage in college football.

No. It's just not accurate. It's like calling UL, UTk, or UConn a women's basketball school. The team might be great, but it's just not the case. Even at UConn, women's basketball doesn't call the shots.
Syracuse is a sports school. If it has to be shoe-horned into one category, it would be football.

Not sure that year in the AAC did anything for Our Basketball recruiting either based on results so far. Seem to be behind the curve. Big East brought in great players as well as I believe being in the ACC will again do the same. AAC did however have a few good Basketball teams last Year. UConn won it all. They beat UK, Whom knocked Us out. and We beat UConn 3 Times.

That why i said long term...that UConn had BIG EAST Players...
1.) Chestnut Hill's parking situation is horrendous but I would never try to park there for a game. I would just leave the car at the hotel and take the subway, which takes you right to their beautiful campus. I can't think of an easier place to get in and out of than BC.
2.) I think Clemson should go to the Big 12 but only on the condition that it stops grown men from openly weeping on message boards.
I think it is obvious what is happening here. You have someone who is acting like a child and throwing a temper tantrum if he doesn't get his way on everything. As I do with my own 21-month-old son, we should just let him cry and kick and scream and get it out of his system.
The SEC is definitely never going to take them and everyone knows it. So that leaves the B12 as their only other realistic suitor. At this point, it is very obvious to most which conference is in the best position going forward between the ACC and B12. There is a reason why Clemson's decision-makers have decided to stay put. However, that reality doesn't fit in with the leverage someone is trying to create in overstating his school's power and opportunities.
Just let him go and nod your head knowingly. He will soon tire himself out and it will be time for a nap.

Clemson will never increase travel cost just to be under the whims of Austin, Texas...that would be nuts....

As a Clemson alum, I personally believe that a strong and vibrant acc is best. I couldn't care less about playing any big 12 team not named Oklahoma or Texas. I like playing FSU, GT, ncsu, Louisville (the newbies grew in me fast and are an immense upgrade over Maryland), and I've grown to like the hard fought games with BC. Only way the big 12 is ok is if we bring FSU, GT, Louisville, Pitt, ncsu and Miami with us. the resulting big12 east division looks a lot like the acc, so why not stay put and not have to deal with texas or the couch burning inbreds of WV?
The accn will make the $ work out. The acc will survive and thrive because espn says so. They have the best fb and bball conferences with us and the sec.

Understand that...the only league from a Clemson outsider like myself that would make sense for you is the SEC.

Not sure I'd want the sec anyway as crazy as it sounds. I would rather play FSU than Florida, we already play the chickens every year and UGa every few years. Who cares about mizzou, UK, Vandy, MSU, or ole miss? We play auburn every few years and, since I live in Alabama, I'd rather not deal with the insufferably obnoxious Bama fans by playing them. I go back to wanting FSU, ncsu, GT and Louisville every year. In fact, my perfect acc is have Syracuse and VT swap divisions for a true zipper model.

The football first teams need a split of that last group to have a majority, and if they get all 4 to go with them it's a 2/3 majority. That's vastly different from the pre-2004 expansion.
* note: it seems like both BC and Pitt lean toward football but don't always agree with the Southern football schools - so I split them and put one in the "varies" category.

A decision that hurt football? How about promoting Scott Shafer to head coach?
I based that Syracuse "basketball first" categorization on 2 things:
1) there appear to be more Orange basketball fans than football fans - on sites like Nunes Magician, but more importantly, sites like the Carrier Dome upper deck...
2) I just like messing with Syracuse fans because you guys are just so doggone easy to tease.
The jury is still out on Scott.
Only to those who refuse to remove their orange glasses.

Wake Forest is definitely a basketball school and its not even close.
I also believe that NC State strongly considers themselves as a basketball school, but I'll let a State fan give a definite answer on that.

historically basketball
last 15 years, football
in DNA of the school (our deepest roots), basketball

Football pays our bills. All of our votes in the ACC over the past 20 have been to boost football.
For God's sake, we were the ones that helped negotiate Miami into the league and we were the ones who made the motion that derailed Syracuse and BC in order to begin talks with ND. We haven't done anything that is "basketball first" in 60 years.

Whether you invited ND or Syracuse back then it still would have been a fb move. The Acc alignment started right after SU had won the NC back in 2003. It was just 2 years earlier that SU won 10 games in fb. SU was back then similar to what Louisville is today, a school which had lots of success in both revenue sports.
