RE: OT: MLB Playoff Predictions
The fact is we can win all 3 games in NY but still would have to go back to Kauffman Stadium to win it all. It's not looking good. The Royals have professional hitters 1-9 and somehow even the likes of Chris Young are making our hitters look as bad as we did back in June. Kind of a sickening feeling.

So i get the common dismissal of Chris Young as he wasn't great for the Mets(my buddy at work said the same thing) Dude was 11-6 with a 3.38 this year in the AL. that's pretty damn good~!

As a Cubs fan, I have a few choice words for Chris Young.

They also pitched to a very tight strike zone that seemed to change from top to bottom of most innings.
Not sure how Cueto gets the high inside strike and the Mets have not had one go in their favor. The guy last night was terrible.

Just saying he has no business getting our hitters swinging late at his fastball like he was consistently. I get that he's a change of pace from KC's hard throwers and that when you're sitting on an off-speed pitch, 90 MPH seems like 100 MPH. But he was getting every single Mets hitter on it. It was maddening.

I know its just sports but that was just straight up painful. Not only did they get to celebrate on our field, but the Mets also open in Kansas City next year. Meaning we have to sit there and watch their ring ceremony. Ugh.

At least college basketball season is here. Time to move on.

I kind of hope Syndergaard is your game one starter and the Royals ace throws some high heat at his grill to "make him feel uncomfortable".

Thor isn't scared. If they have a problem with him, they can meet him 60 feet, 6 inches away.

Well, given the game is at KC, the Royals ace would not get the chance to throw high heat to Thor...... DH

I hope Syndergaard is pitching in Anaheim on opening day next year. Make it happen.

If any of that staff is going anywhere, it's Harvey.

RE: OT: MLB Playoff Predictions
Sign me up. A lot of names are being rumored in Chicago (none from the NYM), but interesting names tossed around nevertheless. Carlos Rodon was the most interesting to me just because of his age. I didn't follow him that closely across town, so I don't know how he projects right away, but I think he's a young lefty that has a lot of potential to be a future ace.

I can't imagine CWS trading Rodon, they invested a lot in him and i agree he should wind up being an Ace. He showed glimpses in his first year

Yep, and I doubt even that happens. The intensity he pitched with in Game 5 was something special; he's a true ace. It would take a monster deal to move him.

I think the Mets want to see how a rotation with their full complement of arms performs. Harvey, deGrom, Syndegaard, Matz, and also Zach Wheeler, who should be available around June coming off Tommy John surgery, and has the upside to be a top-of-the-rotation type as well.

Yes, they'll be sacrificing offense, as both Murphy and Cespedes are reportedly going to be allowed to walk. But they have 22-year old top prospect Brandon Nimmo nearly ready to go to join Conforto, Lagares and Granderson in the big club's outfield rotation, and a couple high level middle infield prospects working their way up as well. The future is bright.

They have to spend some loot on a bat or 2. You can only relay on the young guys so much. otherwise, think about how dreadful your offense was pre Cespy!

I know. It's going to be rough seeing him walk, but it has to happen. Granderson still has about 2 years left here and Conforto is going to be an everyday guy. Cespedes struggled defensively in CF, whereas Juan Lagares had some terrific postseason AB's and is very good in that spot. With Nimmo coming soon there's just no way we can justify giving Cespedes a long-term deal for crazy dollars. I trust the farm system.

However, there IS a pipe dream possibility at the trade deadline next year if the offense starts going to sh*t: Depending on how the Marlins do, Giancarlo Stanton might come available. I doubt they ever trade him within the division, but with Wheeler hopefully looking good on the mound by then, the Mets will likely be one of the few teams with the pieces to make a deal like that happen.

there is a new sheriff in town in miami, I doubt he goes anywhere soon. And, i didn't mean they needed to not let Cespy walk, i get that. But they need to add at least 1 or 2 mid level bats IMO

Mattingly is an awful manager, and I doubt he has very much control over whether Stanton stays or goes except by winning. They can't afford his salary.

I agree with you we'll need some bats. I'd love to try to get someone like a Joey Votto, or a poor man's version of him, to replace Duda at 1B.

Hearing his name surprised me as well, and it was probably just a reporter throwing a name out there without merit. The more I study Chicago's options, the less I think they're legit players for Price, Greinke, or Zimmerman. I think it is more likely they'll trade Soler, Baez or Castro (potentially 2 of those 3) for a young arm from San Diego or Cleveland.

As for the Mets, I think it's wise on their part to let Cespedes walk. I was surprised by his performance in the second half, but I still don't trust him. As has been said, there is a reason why he's been with four teams the last two seasons.

I'm torn on Votto and I can't imagine Miami trading Stanton.
