It think forecasting beyond 2016 is impossible.
I don't even like forecasting beyond the week ahead. Football is a strange game and you can never tell for sure what is going to happen. Then you factor in injuries and other things nobody sees coming and it's just too hard to say team A and team B will do this or that in any given year.
I will say that IF everyone stays healthy, and there aren't any departures that MTSU vs. Marshall in the East is going to have some very meaningful games with major impacts on the conference as a whole in the coming years as both seem to have lots of young talent.. However, that if is a huge IF.

Me thinks that after your coach and QB leave that you way go back to cellar-dwelling.
I know some of you hate facts..
2015 CUSA 8 2 Jeff Brohm (8-2)
2014 CUSA 8 5 Jeff Brohm (8-5)
2013 Sun Belt 8 4 Bobby Petrino (8-4)
2012 Sun Belt 7 6 Willie Taggart (7-5)
2011 Sun Belt 7 5 Willie Taggart (7-5)
Western fans can't help it if S. Miss can't handle a coaching change. Western did just fine...along the way Western also replaced a 4 year starting qb with our current one.
So I like our chances just fine. But the question is...can S. Miss get lucky enough to get them a schedule like this year.
winning games against ..
A. Peay*
Texas St**
UNT
UTSA**
UNCC***
RICE
ODU***
UTEP
* not FBS
** FBS 5 years or less
*** Did not have a football program 5 years or less ago
UNT..might be the worse FBS in history
Rice..3 fbs wins came against a combined schools with 4 fbs wins between them
UTEP..3 fbs wins, combined schools with 6 fbs wins between 3 of those belong to Rice
I think the odds are S. Miss will fall back to that cellar-dwelling
All this tells me is that WKU is due for a let down.. Sorry, but even the best programs in the history of this game eventually have a let down after a coaching change or the change of successful longtime starter at the QB position. It may not be next year, but eventually it will happen.. We went from Kresser (NFL QB), to Pennington (NFL QB) to Leftwich (NFL QB) and then we were pretty spotty under center until Cato arrived.. We went from Chaump(.670 win %, and a D1AA NC appearance) to Donnan(.753 win % and a D1AA National title) to Pruett (.803 win %, a D1AA National Title, 5 MAC titles and 5 bowl wins) to Mark Snyder who went 22-37.
You may string some runs together, and that's great when you do. But, eventually every team has a coaching or QB change that sets them back a few years.

Of course a let down is possible it happen just about every where at some point. But we can say that about every school in the conference...
what those numbers show is just because of a qb and coach leaving...it doesn't mean Western can't keep winning. Going by past experience the odds look better for Western to not fall in the cellar than it does for some schools with a coaching change or QB change.
I wasn't the one that made a absolute statement.
