UNC Charlotte accounts for 56% of the student growth in the NC university system and is poised to grow their enrollment to 35K by 2020. As long as we continue to reduce subsidies I see no problem for us going forward.

Everyone in the conference should see losing the reduce revenues as a investment given the TV exposure better. Let the MAC programs enjoy playing in front of 2K-3K on a Tuesday evening.

How much has tuition increased say over the last 5 to 8 years? WKU,had experienced 15 straight years of increased enrollments (21,124), till I believe 2014 when it decrease a few hundred. In that time and especially over the last 5 to 8 years tuition has skyrocket. There will be a breaking point and I can't believe Western is alone in this where cost of attending college is outweighing the future or 10-15 year future of the benefits.
North Carolina is the fastest growing state in the country and with only 17 public schools, I think we'll see all of our universities grow substantially. As the state grows, the universities will as well.

I see schools like Charlotte, ECU, and NCSU resembling the Florida public schools in 20 years with 40-50,000 students each. I seriously doubt we see any new universities open, and those are the 3 universities that are best positioned to handle an influx of growth. Even if the percentage of HS students attending 4 year colleges decreases as costs rise, the population growth of NC will likely more than counteract that. Not only that, but we get tons of out of state students enrolling here because our out of state prices are in line with in-state pricing in the north.

I do see your point though, and understand that many schools will be facing issues. I imagine this will be a large problem in Northeast and Rust Belt states.

Charlotte is projecting enrollment of 35,000 by 2021. Source: http://chancellor.uncc.edu/sites/chancel...6-2021.pdf

Well on their way too. 2014 enrollment was 27,238. Source: http://ir.uncc.edu/sites/ir.uncc.edu/fil...b14011.pdf

In the 2007 enrollment forecast / planning, IIRC, there was specific discussion of modeling enrollment projections on the large Florida public universities.

You should think about building paper mills if you want to keep up with UCF.

What? I mean WTF?

Those two highlighted phrases can't be in the same sentence at the same time.

Gotta think strategic M&A where only the strong will survive; acquire TSU & Nashville School of Law. MT grows to 40k students with two campuses, we get the rebrand desired (could be Nashville University), TSU survives financially, the downtown campus retains HBC heritage, & we are positioned similar to UCF.

TSU is a HBCU. You can't merge with them and end up better. This is paramount to taking down an MLK statue while keeping the Forrest one up. That would almost literally be the perceptual optic. If it happens everything shifts north, the name is TSU and Murfreesboro ends up with a satellite campus. If you want to think strategically you need you review your strategy.

Even if it was a good idea, which it is not, the black legislators and tsu supporters would never allow it. TSU is their baby, their "safe space" and in no way would they be willing to lose it. If some governor was silly enough to suggest it the cries of racism would be flying quickly and loudly.
