would the MAC not become a better spot for Marshall if this report is true?

I hate hat for CUSA as 400k per team is kinda understandable (if it comes with some exposure)...200k is insulting.

Somehow doubt it but we will see...9 million to 2.8 million is either a straight up lie or our AD is completely out of touch with our new TV deal...Either way disappointing to say the least...

im curious why your AD lied then...

honestly this 2.8 mil made way more sense thna the 9 mil

numerous AD/Schools were reporting about a drastic drop and an adjustment.. 9 mil isnt a drastic drop and for all things considered would have been a great deal

and espn only has 6 games and cbsports only had 6...i doubt bein is paying millions or ASN

i had a hard time believing espn/cbssports were paying 8mil+ for 12 games

I think that is just ESPN. not ESPN 3. I don't think we know how many they will show. ODU plays NCSU on ESPN3 and that wasn't one of the games listed there. regardless, this is pretty bad and weak. knowing that I'll likely have to deal with ASN for another year is painful.

Brad responded to the $6.2 million dollar difference.

"Much of that (6.2 million) is networks covering TV production costs rather than individual schools. That saves schools $$."

So it seems when the WKU & ODU ADs said the deal was $9mil it includes production costs. (Why they would say that is beyond me). Total amount paid to schools is $2.8mil. It Suuuuuuccccckkkkksssss. Using $9 MIL sounds better than $2.8MIL I guess.

Not what article said...10 football games allocated to ESPN3, 6 football games on ESPN TV which those games have already been announced.

Near the bottom of the article:

"Schools will be required to upgrade broadcast facilities to meet ESPN standards. At least 10 football games, 10 men's and women's basketball games and Olympic sports championship games in men's and women's soccer, baseball and other sports would be televised on ESPN3."

This TV deal is for games that happen at C-USA schools, not for every game C-USA schools are involved in. Same reason why CBS Sports doesn't televise games that are played at Big 10 schools, they don't have the rights. Since the NC State game is at NC State, it won't be included in this package.

Yes it is cool but earlier it was reported that all BeIn game start times would be 5:30pm eastern which is 3:30pm in El Paso. Could be damn hot on Sept 3rd.

Sorry, but Marshall can make more than $200k a year by retaining our own tier one and tier two rights and selling the content ourselves. Quite honestly, if I were the conference commish I would have told them to pound sand and given the rights back to the individual schools to negotiate. I would imagine most schools could generate more than $200,000 acting independently with their rights. For those that can't, sorry.

This, especially if you factor in lower ticket sales for Thurs-Fri games and/or non ideal start times. 200K is very close to being walk away money.

The old shell game.Trust--BETRAYED!!!

*** I would like to APOLOGIZE at this time to this board.I was incorrect.I was pretty aggressive in defending the 9 million dollar figure.I was fooled by the incomplete comments of two AD's I thought were reliable. They had a chance to clarify and did not.

Even went over on the SBC board and defended the new contract and argued the data. Will have to be more cautious in the future.

I suggest fans that want to e-mail their AD(esp. Stewart and Selig)to complain about the lower deal AND the deceptive way figures were released.Hope any information I get in the future is more reliable.

Not a problem as I also felt the 9 million per year figure was likely right. I already went to the SBC board and back peddled but the AD's are the ones at fault, really. Who can you trust these days, right?

Fire the entire C-USA admin staff and save a couple of million right there.

I agree. The article said ODU is making 70k off in-house digital rights alone. I'd be interested if others know their schools figures.

The 200K would be worth telling someone to go F themselves alone.
