This will help sell the network in Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Philly, Baltimore, NYC, and Boston - any place where there is a large concentration of older Irish Catholics.
They will do the same thing that older ACC basketball fans do - watch reruns of special games - national championships, exciting comebacks, abject screwings, etc., etc.
I'll predict the top 25 shows right now - shows without a live sports broadcast:
1. The Notre Dame football show
2. The Coach K show
3. The UNC basketball show
4. The Louisville basketball show
5. The Jimbo Fisher Show
6. The ACC weekly week in review Basketball Show
7. The Dabo Sweeny Show
8. The ACC's girls with the largest breasts and most erect nipples and puffed up lips show
9. The Syracuse basketball Show
10. The NC State basketball Show
11. The VT football show
12. Bobby Petrino show
13. The Notre Dame old timer's show
14. The UNC football show
15. UVa Olympic sports show
16. GT Football
17. The NC State football show
18. The ACC is better than the SEC show
19. The ACC in the NCAA, ACC, and Dixie Classic basketball tournament show
20. The UNC is great and let's pat ourselves on the back show
21. The Duke is better than UNC show and let's rub UNC's face in it show
22. The we hate Notre Dame Show
23. The we hate UNC and Duke Show
24. The poor pitiful, WF, BC, Pitt show
25. The egghead athlete show
Younger Irish fans too...there are multitudes of them. They buy ND stuff like crazy too.

David Teel reported this today.
The announcement was great PR for the conference today
The launch of an ACC network run in partnership with ESPN, which has been expected for 2017, will likely take longer than expected.
The cable giant has asked for the delay, according to Georgia Tech president G.P. “Bud” Peterson
In exchange for a later start date, ESPN could make additional payments on top of the rights fees already paid to the conference, Peterson said.

ND was well on its way to starting its own digital "Irish Channel".
It was Jack Swarbrick's baby. ND's digital media facilities are better than most.
When ND joined the ACC, it was switched to WatchND, an app and web site that mirrored WatchESPN.
All that is happening here is that WatchND will be folded into the ACC Network.

NOT FAIR
While it appears to be unfair from the perspective of the casual fan, I found this portion of the David Teel article quite illuminating:
Quote:Also during that one-on-one, Swofford said that Notre Dame, an ACC member for sports other than football, will receive a full share of ACC Network revenue. The Fighting Irish receive one-fifth of a full share of the conference’s guaranteed rights fees from ESPN.
And while the full-share arrangement may frustrate some who want Notre Dame all in, understand that without the Irish’s national brand and overall sports excellence, there might well not be an ACC Network. Further, Notre Dame will produce more than its share of ACC Network content.
So it would appear that we should thank our Irish friends for their assistance instead of bashing them for a perceived injustice that, when examined, is in fact, not an injustice at all.

THE GOLDEN RULE
Because of when they made their original deals, neither the ACC nor the SEC can take their rights to market anytime soon. Both had to extend their ESPN deals to get their networks so ESPN could guarantee cable and satellite providers that the product would be around for a while. Because the Big Ten's first- and second-tier rights deals expired at the top of the rights bubble, that league could sign two short-term (six years) big-money deals with ESPN and Fox. The Big Ten could open a huge revenue gap in 2024 if it can convince Apple, Google or Netflix to join the rights fray, or it could continue making similar money from more traditional partners. The ACC and SEC won't get the chance to chase the ultimate payday like the Big Ten will

UNC has also invested in it's digital video production thru GoHeelstv via its web site.
It broadcast many games in HD as well as the majority of ESPN3 broadcasts.

Why is Swofford still trying to justify ND's partial deal with the ACC. I thought, without the ACCN, the case was made? Everyone made more money and plays ND every 3 years in football. ND is very good in Olympic Sports. They are quality competition. All the ACC gave up was a few Bowl spots. That could rub some people the wrong way some years but well worth the money. If ND plays the same number of games in a sport, they deserve same share as everyone else. As long as the ACCN is not ND centric, they deserve a full share.....on the Olympic side of things.

RE: Estimated ACCN revenue
Basically the ACCN is a conference based WatchESPN platform. It consist of a tradional channel sold to cable/satellite providers& a ESPN3 type channel for each school.
