Normally this would be way too early for a game thread.

But this is not normal.

Score predictions??

I'm going 38-31 Coogs on top.

lol not really on this forum, we normally post anticipated games or games we know they'll be trash talk (usf/ucf) like a week or a few days early

a few game threads last season had 10-15 pages before gameday

True. The Tulsa - Houston game will probably have a thread started the Sunday beforehand this year. The rivalry is intense and there will be a lot of trash talk and hype. It'll probably go about 30 pages before the game. The week before Teh Rivalry is probably one of the most intense times on any Internet forum out there.
The ou game is just mainly being played so we can get an early read on Teh Rivalry

So true. It's like nachos and salsa. Just a little appetizer before the real deal.

Listening to XM College Sports this morning, may have been Taylor Zarzour, but they expected Houston could be in for a rude awakening. Cited Baker Mayfield and OU's passing offense against a Houston secondary that isn't as good as the previous couple years could get ugly.

How is it a rude awakening if we expect to lose?

I wouldnt say we expect to lose, we are favored to lose, but "expect" is strong..

Hawaii fans expect to lose to Michigan but Wisconsin fans know they are favored to lose to lsu that doesn't meqn they expect it

And I think down meant that we are going to get blown out badly, and it won't be some close game like most are projecting

I'm honestly not that worried about that, if you just look at Baker's stats you'd think he was throwing it all over the field

But if you watch their actual highlights 80% is dink and dunk/slants
They rarely stretch the field
So even if our secondary was just bad Oklahoma isn't the team that would expose that much

Secondly our secondary is more physically gifted, our old secondary put up insane stats the last 3 years especially turnovers but the 2 main safeties on their proday measured 5'9 less than 180lbs and ran 4.7
Herman has said numerous times he preferred his safeties over 6ft
All our new secondary is are his preferred size and he says they are more physically gifted than last year and look great in practice
Experience is the only thing they are missing

So I'm not too worried about our secondary

I'm not saying he couldn't end up being right (OU is a 10 point favorite after all), but it won't be because of this (what sounds like) faux-analysis.

What about OU's passing offense? -- the one that lost Shepherd and Westbrook, and only returns one WR that caught more than 20 balls last year. Did he elaborate and really dig into OU's depth chart, or is he just assuming P5 > G5?

Just merely saying "Baker Mayfield" doesn't mean anything. What was his thought about the possibility of our DL (perhaps a strength over OU's OL) getting after Mayfield and forcing him into bad decisions? Did he elaborate on our secondary, other than it won't be "as good"? Is it a safe assumption that he couldn't name a single player in our secondary if his life depended on it? Howard Wilson started over Brandon Wilson last year before he got hurt. I'd bet the host doesn't even know Howard Wilson exists.

RE: ***Official #15 Houston vs #3 Oklahoma Game Thread***
You don't have to shoot the messenger. He knew enough to know that several from that secondary are in the NFL now. They've been breaking this game down for like 3 weeks now. I have not heard anyone allude to the fact that it was P5 vs. G5. I think it's considered a game between two good teams.

I will say from personal experience, if you think losing some WR's and OL is going to stop Lincolns offense you would be wrong. What he can do with an offense is amazing. He doesn't need an outstanding OL because the ball is coming out in about a second and a half anyways. He had one of the best offenses in the country at ECU with walk-on's and 1-2 star players, I'm sure the receivers waiting in the wings at OU will be sufficient.

But I do hope it is a good game. Though I'm not sure the American gains anything with a UH win, as it seems you are gone soon anyways.
