I'm not saying he couldn't end up being right (OU is a 10 point favorite after all), but it won't be because of this (what sounds like) faux-analysis.

What about OU's passing offense? -- the one that lost Shepherd and Westbrook, and only returns one WR that caught more than 20 balls last year. Did he elaborate and really dig into OU's depth chart, or is he just assuming P5 > G5?

Just merely saying "Baker Mayfield" doesn't mean anything. What was his thought about the possibility of our DL (perhaps a strength over OU's OL) getting after Mayfield and forcing him into bad decisions? Did he elaborate on our secondary, other than it won't be "as good"? Is it a safe assumption that he couldn't name a single player in our secondary if his life depended on it? Howard Wilson started over Brandon Wilson last year before he got hurt. I'd bet the host doesn't even know Howard Wilson exists.

That radio guy has NO earthly clue 03-lmfao what he's talking about.

Our recruiting has improved significantly over the years and he's blabbing nonsense that our secondary isn't as good now vs couple of years ago. SMH

Right, the argument is proven commodities vs. unknown potential.

Like I said previously, H. Wilson started over B. Wilson last year, but he is rarely mentioned as a returning starter. Colin Wilder was a better player coming out of high school than Trevon Stewart was. The bottom line is, can the newcomers (on each side) produce at the same level as those they replaced? My problem is that if it's for UH, the assumption is no, but if it's OU, the assumption is yes.

Spread went from 7 to 11. If it goes to 12 I think Houston covers

Love how UH is a 10 point dog to OU at home while it seems UT is just a 3.5 point dog to ND at home. I know ND is constantly overrated, but this is just a bit much. While I do not like UH, I will definitely pull for any AAC team (even Houston) against OOC foes.

RE: ***Official #15 Houston vs #3 Oklahoma Game Thread***
I don't think it matters who the secondary for UH is.

The scheme last year left us vulnerable to passing attacks. We leave corners on an island and 95% of safeties are not good at man coverage.

The only way that changes is if we find some ace pass rushers.

IMO, UH has that this year. Steven Taylor is a great blitzer, and the Nick Thurman/Ed Oliver combo can get interior pressure against the inexperienced guards for OU.

UH will still send 5-7 guys at Baker and then see if he can handle the pressure. But we will still be able to generate some pressure without relying on a blitz.

Last year you could see this against Cincy. If we didn't bring Trevon Stewart on a slot blitz, then Gunner had all day to find those NFL receivers downfield.

In fairness the assumption being that way for Oklahoma is completely valid. That is assumed because it is true. For the last two decades Oklahoma and Stoops have been the most consistent college football program in the country. If you average 10.5 wins of 17 years you pretty much solidify that you just reload.

But UH could reload this year. The good thing is these questions will be answered in a few days.

Of all the big matchups this weekend, this is the most intriguing to me. My gut tells me Oklahoma wins by 14 or so, but then my gut told me the same thing about the FSU Peach Bowl game last year and we saw how that turned out.

So I'm not selling Houston short this time. 07-coffee3

I hope you're ready to hear "Boomer Sooner" and the 47 variations thereof about 3,000 times. lol (not necessarily because they'll score a lot, but because they just play it a lot) Also expect to hear "Oklahoma!" played often. Although, I'm kind of happy they'll be playing that since the game is in Texas against a Texas school. #okiepride

For the record though, I do like OU's band. Their pregame show is really nice.

We heard War Chant a ton last December

So then we did the War Chant in good sportsmanship the last 5 minutes of the game COGS

Going to be a blast - hitting a few OU tailgates before the game 04-cheers
