UH begins coaching search in wake of Tom Herman's departure
Interesting names thrown out in this article. The most surprising names are Dana Holgorsen of P5 UWV and Mike Leach of P5 Washington State. Art Briles troubles earlier this year probably eliminate him for 2017.

None of the names are official, those are just guesses by the media.

Not true. That list is from Joseph Duarte, our very well respected and connected beat writer that assured that he wasn't just shooting from the hip, and that those names were verified through his sources.

Lincoln Riley would be a solid hire for Houston.

We won't know for at least a week, so no need to rush and post every name that people toss out there.

Actually there are couple more current P5 head coaches that are said to be interested. Confirmed by people close to the university.

Hopefully not the same close people who said Houston was a lock for the B12

I like Sonny Dykes - California, Mike Leach - Washington State and Holgorsen - West Virginia... And from these three I will take Dykes.

I think.

why in the world would Holgorsen leave WVA for UH? lol

Same for Leach.

Only way either do that is if they are about to get canned (see Tommy Tuberville at Texas Tech)

That's comical.

Supposedly the WVU AD and Dana hate each other.

RE: UH begins coaching search in wake of Tom Herman's departure
I'd be surprised if Leach or Holgorsen end up leaving their current jobs. I can't see Houston wanting to deal with the baggage of Briles this quickly. I'm guessing it ends up being one of the in house candidates, Lincoln Riley, or Leavitt. I don't think Dykes is worth the money you'd have to spend to get him.

That's comical.

Media hype is all it is. Holgerson is making $3 million at WVU and is on pace for a 10 win season. I expect he'll entertain the offer just long enough for WVU to give him a nice raise and then politely decline. While the idea of hiring a proven coach makes a lot of sense to me, I think we'll ultimately end up going the Herman route (i.e a young coordinator) one more time.

You might need to become a Houston fan once UC keeps Tubbs

Why change what's been working? The one time you didn't do it was when you foolishly hired Levine. Riley is the guy I'd hire if I was Houston, I think he's the next big thing.

Levine actually wasn't as bad as he's been made out to be. He recruited well and helped us avoid a major drop off in the post Keenum era. His first season he couldn't help the fact that our starting QB got injured nor could he help O'korn's sophomore slump. He also never gets credit for taking a chance on Ward. While he may not have the best X's and O's coach, he did a lot of other things right.

Go watch his Periscope from yesterday, same names as in today's article. They aren't just guesses like the UCF fan (who is undoubtedly better connected at UH than UH's well-respected beat writer and his near flawless record) tried to proclaim.

Then the article ought to be written better, because the way it's written does not imply that they're anything other than guesses on who UH might look at.

"While no official list of candidates has been compiled, the potential candidates could include..."
