Come back when you have the third most wins (5 and a tie) against Bama than any other OCC team who has played them more thna 5 times, multiple wins over Ole Miss, lead the series against MSU, multiple wins over Auburn, FSU and NCState, and wins over Okla State, Kansas, Virginia, Nebraska, Illinois, Va Tech, Kentucky, LSU, Georgia, Pitt, TCU and lead the series against Louisville.

LA Tech has played Alabama 5 times and won twice. So Tech's winning percentage against Bama stands at 40%. Though the series record stands 3-2 in favor of the Tide, Tech won the last two in 1999 & 1997.

Meanwhile, USM has a 14.29% winning percentage against Alabama.

That's interesting, and I'd definitely brag about it if I were a Tech fan, but I don't necessarily take some sort of "Tech is waaay better against Bama than USM is" message away from it. How many times have you even played them? If you'd played them 60 times, or whatever, like we have, what would your batting average be? There are probably SEC schools that would like to bat .143 against Bama, man, and that's not five games.

I agree. I wasn't trying to "show up" USM. A previous USM poster had made a comment that USM had "the third most wins (5 and a tie) against Bama than any other OCC team who has played them more than 5 times." Well, LA Tech has played Alabama exactly 5 times, and technically we hold a 60% winning percentage against them (including the game they had to forfeit.) There's probably not a lot of schools that have played BAMA OOC at least 5 times that can say that. 04-cheers

RE: How is this friggin' possible?
HogDawg-

In the early days of CUSA, when I was trying to understand how original C-USA was a good idea, I envisioned the conference as an association of SEC-killers. I questioned the inclusion of UAB, but they beat LSU in 1995 right after C-USA was announced, and after that I was sold on them.

Similarly, I thought that LA Tech should be a part of C-USA back then, because you were a wannabe SEC-killer. You beat (?) Mississippi State around that time, and you'd gone toe-to-toe with Houston throughout my childhood, so I looked at you as basically a peer of USM. Your record against Bama is just another example of what I'm talking about.

Our 19-17 victory against you in 2011 is still one of my favorite games.

Was that the rain game in Ruston or in Hattiesburg? I went to the one on Ruston and we had a chance to win it if we could recovered the blocked punt in the endzone... Watched the other on TV and I think your kicker made a 50 yard FG to win it in the rain... 03-banghead
Either way it sounds like you'll really have our number.

As far SEC victories I think we have?
Bama x 2
Ole Miss x 3
Miss St x 3
LSU x 1

Looked it up. You're super close. LSU x1, Fail State x3, Ole Miss x2, Bama x2 or x3 (depending on whether or not you count the forfeit). We also have one tie each with Auburn and South Carolina.

Hopefully we can get the home win over the cowbells next year. If we could beat them and S Car that would be sweet.

Our full list of P5 wins (granted, a couple of these may have been before they were P5):
ACC
Louisville x1 (1-0)
Virginia x1 (1-0)
Florida State x2 (2-2)

Big XII
Ok State x1 (1-1)
Kansas x1 (1-3)
Kansas State x1 (1-3)
Baylor x1 (1-5)

Big Ten
Michigan State x1 (1-0)
Illinois x2 (2-0)
Tie with Maryland (0-0-1)

Pac-12
Cal x1 (1-1)
