RE: WAC Basketball Recruiting 2017-18
UMKC landed Bethune-Cookman transfer Brandon Sugga. Chicago State, UI-Chicago, and Northern Colorado also had offered.
6'8 F averaged 3.8 ppg 3.5 rpg in his freshman year. So he will have 3 years after sitting out 2017-18

Shavers is nice. His back court mate, Jaelen House, is also a baller. House is the son of ASU great and long time NBA player Eddie House. Part of me has wanted to see GCU get in on House for a long time, but he does already have an offer from dad's alma mater. If the kid wants to be his own man, GCU may have a chance.
House is on campus and knows the facilities, as Shadow Mountain participates in GCU team camps every summer. I guess Shaver technically does, too. All the Bibby Ball kids also usually come through for Midnight Madness & big games on campus. Being in conference w/GCU may actually help SU or NMSU with Shaver, as it is a guaranteed trip home every year to play in front of family & friends.
If he wants to start, then he probably won't end up at NMSU or SU. However, if he wants be on a competitive team, SU and NMSU may have a shot.

RE: WAC Basketball Recruiting 2017-18
CSUB is showing interest in 2018 6'4'' G Qon Moore from North Carolina. He has offers from Charlotte, Hampton and Southern Utah so far. He's a 4 star 86 graded recruit by ESPN and the 5th best player in NC as well the 17th overall SG. Surprised he doesn't have any big schools coming after him yet. He's another super athletic slasher. Seems to be the player Barnes loves.

Omaha C Zach Pirog commits to CBU. The 2 star recruit was also recruited, out of high school, by Yale and Air Force among others.

RE: WAC Basketball Recruiting 2017-18
CBU has not wasted any time racking up D1 transfers to bolster the front court:
FR PF Mikey Henn (6-8, 230) - UC Davis
SO C Zach Pirog (6-10, 220) - Omaha
JR PF Matt Hubbard (6-9, 230) - Santa Clara
JR PF Gabe Taylor (6-8, 230) - Portland
Add them to the mix of three 6-7 FR already in the program & CBU looks like they are shooting to be one of the tallest rosters in the WAC when they join. I couldn't tell you if a single one of the transfers is actually any good, but all will be eligible to compete when CBU starts D1 play in 2018-19.

NMSU signs 2 star SG Kortrijk Miles out of Texas. He's 6'4" and was also being recruited by Houston, UTRGV, and Air Force.

I read he was 3 star but I'm sure if Grand Canyon landed him he would be 3 star!

I rely on VC anything beyond their position and where they are going, so if he ended up with GCU, I would have called him a 2 star.

Rivals has Miles rated as a 3-star prospect but otherwise he is not rated in many scouting websites. That can be taken as he is not that highly rated as a prospect or he is under scouted. That might have to do with his visibility at major AAU events compared to other prospects in the region.

New Mexico State signs a big time shooting guard out of Texas. He is a three-star by rivals.com, rated 16th best player in the state of Texas, and was the Class 4A Player of the Year. He also averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Not really that impressive to be POY at 4A. Schools all have under 1000 students.

Yeah lesser opposition and him signing this late in the year is a red flag. Perhaps academic issues and a redshirt? Pretty underwhelming first signing from Jans if I'm being honest. Definitely not a "big time" signing.

Lmao. A 2 star that is under evaluated that played 4A ball. This is not a high level at all. He definitely isn't the 16th best player in Texas if he hasn't been evaluated by ESPN or Scout. If he was he would've been evaluated by them. Just telling the truth that it's a very underwhelming signing.

New Mexico State just signed a very good high school shooting guard.
1. 2016 Class 4A State Tournament MVP
2. 2017 Class 4A Player of the Year
3. Offers by Houston, Air Force, UTA, and North Texas.
4. 3-Star Recruit by Rivals.com
5. Averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game
and reminds Aggie fans of one of the greatest shooting guards to ever come out of New Mexico State.
FYI, Damiyne Durham played for a Texas 1A school.
