Something happens with our D when opponents get deep into our territory. People call it bend, don't break. But it's more than that. They make teams go backwards and they force turnovers heavily inside the 25ish. These guys take it personally when you try to score on them. And we have some linebackers that you wouldn't want knowing your name. Fair warning.

I like our whole secondary:

LB Omari Cobb
LB Chase Hancock
LB Jaquan Yulee
LB Frankie Hernandez
LB Artis Johnson
LB Juwon Young
CB Chris Jackson
CB Rodney Allen
CB Nazeeh Johnson
CB Jaylon McClain-Sapp
S Malik Gant
S Brandon Drayton
S CJ Reavis

Chuck Heater and the defensive coaches have done a great job with this group and have them playing nasty and aggressive.

Linebackers aren't part of the "secondary." It's neither here nor there, but I've seen you write that a couple of times. LBs transition between the line and the secondary depending on pass or run, filling gaps or helping with coverages. They practice and warm up as their own squad, neither with the DL or the safeties/corners.

This game always worries me. We NEVER play well at MT.

Looks like Vegas knows we play like crap there. We are only 1.5 point favorites. I'd rather be a dog in this game.

Y'all funny. In this series, the team that plays the poorest in the other team's stadium is MT. Not a single one of our team's has ever gotten off the bus on any trip to Huntington, and that dates all the way back to our I-AA playoff games.

Yeah, but MT generally plays poorly no matter what stadium you ever play in. 05-stirthepot

We beat a Cato led Marshall team when we were 3-4 back in 2013. No one said we would win it. Logan was throwing pick 6's then too. We put on the Blackout jerseys and we played differently. 2015, we had a rough season and were 3-5 and Marshall won 10 games that year, we played and won.

This year, we are 3-4, it's the Blackout game and our honorary captain is a 12 year old cancer survivor who is serving his 3rd year as our honorary captain. We're 2-0 with him as our captain. As weird as it sounds, I like our chances tonight. I also bought a new lucky hat for the game. :-) Bring it.

Not expecting a win tonight, would love to see it, but the two wins, we had decent or serviceable QBs. Not tonight. Urzua is a disaster at QB. He would have to have the game of his life, and I'm not betting on it.

However if MT does somehow miraculously win, I am going to enjoy the meltdown on twitter and message boards by Herd fans.

No, you're funny. You get BLOWN OUT in Huntington, and we play you down to the wire in both games at MTSU... But you played poorly. Okay chief.

That being said, it would not shock me for MTSU to get up for this game and pull out a win. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

You do realize we missed FIVE field goals lat time we were there? I'd say that is playing like crap.

Wouldn't surprise me either. We currently have a few monkeys on our back, one is Murfreesboro, the other is the whole state of texas lol (we did beat rice once there, but it was a close shootout).

By your logic, you must have been playing bad for four years now, what, with ZERO division titles or Championships. 03-lmfao

I would say that is your kicker having a bad game.

Just look at last year. You guys were terrible. YET...

Two interceptions thrown by Urzua (the INT machine) - both unforced errors.

Three fumbles on the day.

There wasn't another team you guys had that many yards and points except for your I-AA gimme against Morgan State.

The punter shanked two.

We were terrible in all phases of the game.

Now that is playing awful on an epic level.

Fair enough. Plus, I forgot that Stock was out that game. I kinda give you all a pass on that game because if Stock would have played, you'd have beaten us by 20+.

Maybe. It's not like the rest of the team played worth a crap. I guess it is safe to say neither of our teams plays well at the other's place - historically speaking. That probably changes tonight.

You aren't exactly going to be facing a confident team.

BTW, it really is amazing the point differential Brent makes compared to his replacement. If we had the WAR statistic in football it would be an insane number.

Confident or not, it seems to always be historically close at your place. I don't discount anything: From a MT win by 20 to a Marshall win by 20. Funny things happen in Murfreesboro.

Actually 6 but who's counting. But then again Nick Smith is now in Gaffney SC playing for former Marshall WR coach Mike Furrey and the Limestone Saints. He can't miss a FG for us tonight.

As bad as we were last year, they weren't going to let the game closest to Nov 14th slip away, it was the 1st game with the 75 on the helmets, they also had alternative black uniforms that game. They played their best game that night last year and maybe their only game they played well.
