Ha the 2016 defeat in that hurricane will not soon be forgotten. Houston was 6th ranked with a clear path to the CFP until Navy ran roughshod over them.
I had the pleasure of sitting in that stadium to witness it. At least the crab cakes from Ruth's deli made that night a bit more pleasing.
oliveandblue is a Tulane fan - no doubt talking about the Green Wave win last November.
I'll be happy to reminisce with anyone about the atmosphere at NMCMS during that October 2016 day....

Ha.
I'll make a bet with you. I bet you that the MW and AAC have the same number of teams ranked in the final AP Poll?
Also, the MW will be pretty top heavy next year. Boise, Fresno, and SDSU all have most of their two-deep returning. Air Force, Wyo and CSU have a good number returning as well. Withbthat, I only see three or four P5 wins next year.
If Boise plays cupcakes, what does that make Tulsa, Houston and Navy? Hell, Navy needed late game heroics to beat a middling MW team, right? Don't be dumb.
Good hire Houston. I am pumped for Applewhite.

Mwc is super weak. Boise isn't even great, but when you play nobody winning games is easy. I think 80% of the mwc doesn't care about fielding a competitive team. G4 fo sure.

That's what I thought.
I constantly have to remind myself, that this board is not a microcosm of fan bases. This Board generally represents the extremes of each fan base. I was in Begas a few weeks ago with a Houston buddy if mine. He has two degrees from UH, and his a season ticket holder. He said that "everyone knows P6 is a big joke, and it is sort of embarrassing." But he did say he liked the American and thinks it is a solid conference. He then said that the Bowl record against G5 needed to improve. He is a reasonable guy. I assume most people are like him, as opposed to you.

yet I flipped on ESPN yesterday and Finebaum/Bianchi we're debating if UCF should be able to claim a title...it's smart marketing that gets the media talking about you...we're able to crash title week without even being there.

Heck I don't even think Boise will mount to anything again next season and that's their conference savor that everyone there heavily relies on.

Only reason the mwc has any wins over the P6 is because of how the bowl tie-ins work. I would hope their champion could beat our 6th best team.

I have very mixed feelings about this Briles hire
I think he was very much involved with art and all that was bad at Baylor
I don’t want Kendall to hire hookers to get recruits or to think it’s ok to have students raped by players and look like he other way
This is southeast coastal Texas here in Houston, there are many ways to dispose of trash

My understanding is that there has never been any evidence he was involved. The truth is, Kendall Briles wasnt in charge. Art Briles was in charge. Worse yet--it wasnt just Art covering up rapes at Baylor. The Baylor Board of Regents knew what was going on. The Baylor president knew and was involved. Hell, even the Waco police were involved in covering this stuff up. Not only that, but it wasnt just the football players getting away with rape, the Baylor administration was trying to cover up all the rapes on campus. It was a wide spread systemic issue at Baylor and within the Waco police department.
Houston isnt Baylor and the Houston Police Department is not going to turn the other way just because a UH player is involved. There will likely be some criticism of the hire--but there is zero danger of Houston developing a Baylor like culture of rape. Aint gunna happen.
