RE: The Schumer Shutdown
The final vote was 81-18 (McCain still absent).

16 Democrats voted no - both from California, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Oregon and Vermont (one Democrat, one independent). And then single senators from Hawaii, New York (Gillibrand but not Schumer) and Montana.

And Lee from Utah and Rand from Kentucky both voted no too? Those two are sure stubborn sons of guns.

Schumer and Durbin (and Pelosi) lose a lot of luster. I don't think it will effect the Democrats a ton in 2018 even though the Republicans will try their best to bring it up every step along the way. I'm confident Trump will do something between now and November to piss off women and minorities even more.

Unless there's another one come February and/or March and/or April and/or May...as our incompetent representatives in congress and the west wing continually kick the can down the road, failing at government.

Chucky always die at the end like the doll.

He was losing the Democratic leaders who started to follow the lead of the moderate Democrats and Susan Collins. That group is growing with the middle ground Dems and Repubs that could come up with the better Daca deal than what the fake Dinos like Chucky wants. The far left is actually a tiny base of Dems. That is why we need to removed Chucky and Nancy Peebrains as leaders.

Trump has the ability of making this front and center all the way to November. He gave it a marketing so that all he has to do is say SchumerShutdown and everyone is reminded of it.

I keep reading everywhere that most Americans and apparently 64% of republicans agree that we need to giver “dreamers” a path way to citizenship. So why is there a debate over DACA??

Seems like a big waste of time!

Congress is required by law to pass a budget. That's their job.

If I'm caught breaking a law I will be fined, imprisoned or both.

What happens to congressional members when they break the budget law?

I have read your posts and have to agree that you oppose two party rule. You are clearly for one-party rule.

Give them a path back to Mexico or Guatemala or whatever shithole they got brought here from and dumped off.

You are entitled to your opinion, but most people don’t agree with you. If someone got here (as an example) when they were five and is now 30 are you really sending them back? These people are now married have kids....

If they had no criminal record, payed their taxes etc... most people agree they should be given a path to citizenship.

I think it’s a waste of money and far more symbolic than anything else.

Yeah a big 20 foot wall made of concrete and reinforced steel is absolutely "symbolic"... 01-wingedeagle

Nope. I'd support permanent resident status but citizenship should not be on the table. We should not be rewarding criminal behavior.

^^^^ is what I see happening and believe most would be okay with as a long term solution.....if they screw up, adios amigo.....

DJT is in a position of strength.....he's not going to sign anything that doesn't fully define enforceable long term measures that include the itemized points he laid out 2 weeks ago....

it's going to be interesting how congress reacts over the next 2 weeks....with the midterms coming up, I've got my money on the DJT squeeze play happening once again....
