So much for that! Tribe loses 4-0. Doesn't even get a hit until two out in the 8th.
On the other hand, Men's and Women's Tennis both won their first round matches in their respective CAA tournaments today!

Currently sitting in last place and needing to pass at least three teams in the standings to even qualify for the CAA Tournament, W&M needs to make it happen now, with no more wriggle room. NE is currently second in the standings and so it won't be easy. The Tribe could pass Hofstra easily (they have yet to play each other) and Towson also because Towson still has a hard schedule -- but they must also pass JMU (who just swept the Tribe and hold the tiebreaker) or even Delaware or UNCW who are even higher in the standings.
Come to think of it, after proofreading the above post, I just don't think that it is going to happen. But I'll still be rooting for the Tribe. Imagine how great it would be if they actually pulled it off.
We are more likely to finish last than make the CAA tourney. Just can't win games when your bats are lucky to score 2 runs in a game and the bullpen is very weak

4-3 loss yesterday was our seventh consecutive CAA loss and further cements finishing out of the CAA Tourney. Would take virtual sweeps of our remaining CAA games to qualify.
This team just can't hit; the pitching has been decent but when you struggle for hits and have guys hitting in the low .200s you're not going to win.

2-1 loss yesterday at Northeastern gave NE the sweep of the weekend. We have now dropped eight consecutive CAA games and, realistically, have no hope of making the CAA Tourney.
In the three weekend games we had a grand total of fourteen hits to cement our spot as one of the worst hitting teams in Div I. Nobody on this team can hit!

Not sure if we need to look at getting a new hitting coach or not, but it really is inexcusable to be this bad at the plate.

I wonder if Manny Mendoza is available. He was a .291 lifetime hitter in the Mexican League, if only .215 in MLB...

Can't blame it on a hitting coach. We are striking out approximately 25% of plate appearances. That's horrible. We are slugging .301 and have a .305 OBP. We also don't try to steal bases. So basically we're a singles and doubles team that doesn't put the ball in play that much. Somewhere that points to ether a lack of talent, experience, or both. If it is talent then we're not recruiting well, and we've been consistent winners with good/great facilities so something doesn't add up.

When everybody on the lineup is doing terrible, it is either A) terrible hitting talent, or B) terrible approaches/discipline/strategy at the plate.
Not sure what incoming freshmen we have coming in, but there should be no guaranteed spots in the lineup next year. If the hitters still have the same approach during the offseason, then start 9 freshmen.

Raquel who hit .337 last year is hitting .174 this year. Our top guy is hitting .260. Do we have a new hitting coach this year? This is a mystery as we now have an indoor practice facility too.

I think you mean "Raquet". I would pay good money to go see vintage Raquel even if she was hitting .174.

Vintage "Raquel" would have a much higher "hit" ratio than .174.

Great job, Cullen Large.
#BlueJays prospect Cullen Large rapped out a career-high five hits and scored the game-winning run for the @LansingLugnuts on Thursday. https://t.co/6M3QA61DgH https://t.co/mDbNxredxf

In other news, Hofstra beat us 0-1. I won't bother to check out the stat line on that.

Dumbfounding how the program has dropped this year. Not exactly a well timed boost coming up next weekend with their series at #2 NC State. Not much promise for the ship to right this season and get back on the right side of their fair share of one run games.

RE: Baseball 2018
Thre season stats tell a miserable story of the most inept Tribe hitting team in memory.
The TEAM batting average is .215 with only one regular at .261...nobody else is hitting even .250 with three regulars below .210. Team has only 14 homers all season. Team has struck out 360 times in 1382
official at-bats: that's a strikeout rate of 26% for all official at-bats--meaning that we strike out a little more than one-quarter of all our plate appearances, an incredible stat.
We have lost nine CAA games in a row and are 3-13 in the league.
It probably wouldn't hurt benching the entire starting eight players and playing eight subs. What's to lose?

Yikes! Cancel the season.
Team loses another this afternoon, 7-3 at home to Hofstra. Tenth consecutive CAA loss, bringing league record to 3-14. This won over early as we trailed 7-1 in the fourth inning.
Was at the game and it was sad to watch. Flailing bats again; nobody on this team can take an outside pitch to the opposite field.
Tomorrow is Military Service day...perhaps that can bring us a win.
