No cold weather games and none outside of the state of Florida after Oct 20th. UNC is going to hate the AAC in September after ECU and UCF roll them in back to back weeks. LOL.

RE: 2018 Football Schedule
(02-13-2018 12:28 PM)pesik Wrote: pesiks schedule winners and losers
losers:
--ecu- hard games in front momentum and confidence might be killed by the time the easy games come around
--smu- your schedule is scary...the start with navy and ucf in conference play...if im abetting man you start 1-5
--Tulsa- give all the hard games early while they are still trying to figure it out..they are going to have to claw and fight to win any of their first 7 (the fcs they ply is elite)..ad hope they havent uit before the rest
--houston- not a big loser..but playing usf and memphis late actually benefits them, they get to develop before playing houston, while houston as is, is returning a pretty experienced team
indifferent:
--tulane: decent mix of hard and early games, also sidenote when did navy/tulane become a rivalry game? (trident trophy) that is the reason houston and navy arent playing at seasons end like we normally do
--uconn- giving the ucf game 1 right before boise is brutal...but the way uconn finished off last year, they werent beating most team early this year..playing the 2 teams that have likely destroyed you anyways to start might not be a bad thing..you'll to see who has fight on your team and get to experiment with different players early..if they come of those 2 losses atleast putting up a good fight the rest of the schedule is favorable and the 2 hardest are already out of the way
winners:
--ucf- given a second easy game to start the year to ease the transition
--cincy-all the easy games in front, and play ucla game one when theyll still be figuring it out (before they are too knowledgeable about the chip kelly system)..great chance to look alot better than they are at 4-1 or 5-0 and start to build confidence
--memphis- missouri, ucf and houson are later in the season. new qb not thrown in the fire..even the 2 moderate early games (navy and tulane, are known for time killing offenses not monster defenses)
--temple- this is a great schedule temple was slowly getting better as the season finished out last year..their schedule is set up to keep building on the success before being thrown in the fire....very navigable first 8 then a bye to recoup then ucf, houston and usf. they should be ready to compete with the top by then
--navy getting a lot of the hard games earlier while those teams are still developing and might not be ready for triple option
--usf starts of easy enough for a new qb ..even with a new qb 6-1 seems like a worst case starting scenerio..they can build confidence around their new qb..hell they can probably experiment with their qbs till it works and still win most of those games
the way the schedules are set up
i for the bowl bubble teams, i think uc and tulane go bowling ecu, smu and tulsa dont...uconn if they can rebound after the first 2 games

Especially that last one
Last 4 games of the season for UC are against teams that trucked us last year.
Rebuilds are painful. Just hoping for 6-6 on step 2 of the Tubberville Rehabilitation Plan.

RE: 2018 Football Schedule
My prediction: 9-3. Yeah, yeah. I'd love 12-0 too. However, they way the games are structured, I think we got a damn good chance to at the very least play in the conference title game and get a return trip to the Peach Bowl.
10-3 with the AAC might be good enough for the G5 access bowl.

you projections make no sense to me
unc was 3-9 last year with 2 of those wins being odu and wcu (fcs)
i dont see how you are calling ny6 but think you are capable of losing to unc..
fau will be 5x more difficult than unc..

"No," he said he replied, "we weren't that team."

pesik, nice early analysis. Follow up on Temple's schedule. Games are divided into favorites (Temple favored by 4+); even (Temple +4 to -4) and dogs (Temple a dog by 4+):
Sat, Sept 1 Villanova FAVORITE
Sat, Sept 8 Buffalo FAVORITE
Sat, Sept 15 @ Maryland EVEN
Thu, Sept 20 Tulsa FAVORITE
Sat, Sept 29 @ Boston College EVEN
Sat, Oct 6 East Carolina FAVORITE
Sat, Oct 13 @ Navy EVEN
Sat, Oct 20 Cincinnati FAVORITE
Now comes Death Row:
Thu, Nov 1 @ UCF DOG
Sat, Nov 10 @ Houston DOG
Sat, Nov 17 USF DOG
Sat, Nov 24 @ UConn FAVORITE
We win all 6 as Favorites; take 1 or 2 out of the 3 Evens, and take 1 out of the Dogs, we could be 7, 8, or 9 game winners. Our three game stretch in 3 weeks against UCF, UH and USF will be brutal.

Looks like 1976 picked our 3 toughest road games as losses, which makes sense to me. But I agree that getting a NY6 bowl with a 10-3 record would be tough. OOC wins over FAU and Pitt wouldn't impress anyone enough to jump over a G4 champ with a better record.

houston can compete week 1, our qb has games under his belt, most of our defense returns beyond safeties..but our #1 safety returns and we have the #1 safety recruit of 2016 transfer to houston from ole miss (who is favored to get a waiver) and did i mention ed oliver
my point is that playing usf and memphis early would have been a huge benefit for houston...but the fact that its late means that memphis qb will have 11 games under his belt before he plays houston, he wont be someone we can just exploit because of his experience and similar situation to usf...
