Therein lies the rub. I have no confidence in his ability to protect the football.
Statistically speaking, his turnover ratio was not bad, but a couple games he seemed to panic and/or force the ball into coverage. Unfortunately one of those games came against Colgate.
He is still one of the top FCS QBs, but certainly has room to improve.
Yes, I agree. I think Ben was trying to be the hero and oftentimes tried to do too much, and not manage the game and trust his teammates. His “swashbuckling” ways led to unforced turnovers, and it cost JMU in games the Dukes should have won.
Should be an interesting QB competition with the new coaching staff onboard this Spring.

I don't think that is what is happening at all. We are the ones being torn down on the Bison board, and our fans are simply reacting. It is a natural human response.
The Bison fans I met in Frisco were great. The fans on the Bison board, not so much.
And, when do we "always" tear everyone down? Maybe I'm biased, but I think JMU fans, and in particular the ones on this board, are as accepting and gracious to visitors as any fans you will find anywhere.
I don’t know about this last quote. I read a lot of anger and negativity in many posts on here. Madison has always been the perfect example of the great melting pot where people from all walks of life came together at one university and played in the sandbox well. That’s who we are and some of you forget that sometimes.

Met many Bison fans in Frisco last year. 99% of them were class acts - which frankly is a few points higher than the JMU fans I met, many of whom were drunken douchebags to be quite honest.
I found the above to be true as well. Some of our fans were exactly as described above. Not funny drunk, not happy drunk, not even fall down drunk. Just drunken douchebags. Bizun fans definitely held their liquor better. The NDSU people I encountered were great. Frankly, it's the first time I was embarrassed for our fanbase.
That said, I do separate "message board, keyboard warrior fans" from the ones I encounter in person at the games.

In the “for what it’s worth” category: I had a blast in Fargo two years and really enjoyed tailgating with the NDSU fans last year. Of course, there are those that hide behind their keyboard and talk trash, but my experiences with their fans has been great. My wish is that JMU would be as welcoming to out of town visitors as the Bison fans were to us.
