How are Purdue, Michigan State, or San Diego State "rivals" to Oregon? I don't remember any of them even playing Oregon in a football game or NCAA men's basketball game tournament game before.

Texas already plays everyone, but the top 3 would be Oklahoma, Texas Tech and Baylor.

Georgia: South Carolina over Georgia Tech?

Texas: Texas already plays everyone ... except A&M of course.

I believe he’s saying within the conference

Limiting to three is the fallacy here. Why not four for some and two for others? Abortions for some and miniature American flags for others?

These are in conference. Obviously Georgia Tech is bigger than South Carolina.

At one time we had a good rivalry with BYU (32) but that’s petered out since the old WAC days.

Doesn't BYU get a lot of their players from Hawaii? I would think BYU would want to have Hawaii as a regular opponent

That recruiting pipeline dried up when BYU went independent. From 2002 to 2010 while it was still in the MWC, BYU signed 11 players out of Hawaii high schools and five of those were ranked among the top 10 high school recruits in the state. However from 2011 to 2018 BYU signed only three, and only one was ranked in the top 10.

Since Sitake took over as head coach he's tried to turn that around, signing six Hawaii kids over the past three years, but none has been a top 10 player. As a general matter the best Hawaii players now gravitate to P5 schools, Notre Dame and the home team.

The next UH-BYU games are scheduled for 2024 and 2025.

Purdue actually likes to play in Oregon, and they are good competitive team from the Big Ten. Likewise with Michigan State and U of O already has a history with them..

SDSU & U of O go back several years because that's how Oregon got a foothold in the state of California.

Nebraska:
Iowa
Minnesota
Northwestern

Nebraska OOC:
Kansas
Colorado
Oklahoma

Omaha:
North Dakota
Denver
South Dakota St. (Summit)/Western Michigan (NCHC)

Omaha hockey OOC:
Alaska-Fairbanks
Northern Michigan
Bowling Green

Olympic-wise, Omaha's old OOC rivalries are still in D2. It'd be fun to renew Nebraska-Kearney and NW Missouri State.

Clemson. Gotta be Clemson. Although you can make a decent case for NC State.

RE: Who Would You Choose As Your Three Permanent Rivals
For most Iowa fans, the consensus would be Minn, Wisc, and Neb.

For me personally, I would like to see Wisc, ILL and NW.

I grew up in extreme southeast Iowa far away from the Nebraska and Minnesota borders. The local TV channels we watched as a kid came out of Quincy,IL and the Quad Cities. I just don't have any passion for the Minn and Nebraska battles. But I will admit I am probably the exception.
