Ya, I never bought that considering they offered CUSA $24 million to join. Ill take their actions over board members opinions. That seems to me like they want in a conference.

An ESPN guy said it in a podcast and a Liberty poster basically confirmed it on the same thread. So… I don’t know.

Because it benefits the 6 schools coming in. I am not happy about who we got but now I have to root for them to get better.

Tweet says they are considering expansion, yet the thread title says they are expanding.

I feel like dissolving C-USA puts us all at a voting disadvantage against the power 5 schools. We probably don't want that to happen right? I don't know how all of that works but it seems like it could be a major problem.

I’ll put money that CUSA doesn’t dissolve.

What are they going to do? It would probably be better for us if they dissolve. If you bring a lot more schools up to the FBS level, the rumor we’ve been hearing about the P5 separation from the G5 may actually become a reality.

With auto bid I bet the league survives in some form. G5 also needs to keep that league around just to counter the P5 weight.

Also - less tv inventory = $$$ contracts. Supply vs. Demand.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... but is Southern Miss the only original Charter Member of C-USA, that's still in C-USA, and hasn't found a new landing spot?

Dang.

This was the point i was trying to make. It makes no sense for the G5 to kill each other off. We most likely vote as one. If we lose a conference our voting get power is even less. No one is making more money from killing a conference. The money will just distributed among more teams in your own conference. Also to my first point in my last post....you always want conferences below you as well.

I'll put my house on it. CUSA isn't going anywhere. Marshall and ODU isn't going anywhere. JMU and Liberty will join CUSA and USM will join the SBC. CUSA will probably replace them with NMSU, sucky football but awesome basketball.

I dont think so either---but its going suck pretty bad. They can add Liberty----to get to 6. Beyond that---it gets tough. They have two choices---cut UTEP loose and create a tight little 8 team eastern conference. UMass and UConn are potential football only additions---but if they cut UTEP loose they will need 3 FCS move ups plus Liberty to get to the required 8 "all sports" members. Liberty will probably have something to say about which FCS programs get added because they dont need CUSA at this point. If CUSA get's Liberty and 3 FCS schools---they can add UMass and UConn as "football only" schools for added depth. Those schools would be decent adds in terms of name recognition for a league in real trouble.

If Im CUSA, I tell UTEP they need to join the WAC for olympic sports and let them stay as a "football only" CUSA member. That allows the rest of CUSA to organize around a more geographically reasonable remaining core to save on travel for most other sports. CUSA will need that travel savings because media money is about to go to nearly zero. UTEP can join the WAC or Southland for olympic sports. Heck, the MW might even let UTEP join for olympic sports only---but I think the WAC is UTEP's best bet. As for CUSA---Delaware could an interesting FCS addition. Beyond that---who knows.

If I am JMU, why would I join a crumbling CUSA when I could have a Sunbelt invite. If the future of CUSA hinges on JMU saying yes, then they may have a huge issue.

ODU may want them to join but with reports that ODU will go to the Sunbelt if JMU doesnt join CUSA, then it seems like we all know how this will end.

Does anyone think the MAC might be interested in MTSU and Western Kentucky? A bit of a drive, by MAC standards (their entire conference is less than 400 miles wide)

If true these are terrible adds. ODU has a decent market but what about the academics? The others have nothing to offer but I guess G4 gonna G4.

I don’t know what best option is for CUSA. I just know if they get down to four schools, options are very limited. Interesting to see where all of this goes.
