RE: Who is our next JMU President?
Make Charlie full time for five years and then follow him with Nick Langridge for 20!
You will never find two better people for JMU. Period!

RE: Who is our next JMU President?
Are these folks asking for Charlie and Nick to be President being serious or is this satire?

Who is our next JMU President?
My question is if Charlie King came out of retirement to be interim, it seems like he has interest. Would he get hired as a full time President?

There's a zero percent chance either of those guys is the new President. I thought you guys were joking.

No, Charlie came out of retirement to help JMU make the transition. His decision does not indicate his interest in the position on a permanent basis. In fact, and the BOV has already addressed this in print, i.e. no person appointed to the interim position could (or would) be a candidate for the permanent position.

RE: Who is our next JMU President?
This will be an exhaustive national search with a search firm soliciting and headhunting current, sitting Presidents. There's probably an off-chance that it is a current Provost but I'd be surprised if they went that route. A couple of other things:
- the public (and even many at the university) will not be made aware of when interviews are occuring or who the candidates are, it will be tighter lipped than any coaching search.
- the next President will have served as a tenure track faculty member at some point in their career.
- they will have extensive experience with enrollment management, faculty affairs, and fiscal management/budgeting.
- optimally, they will have some experience with sponsored research, as an R2 now, there will be some advantage of having a President that can be comfortable with growing our research funding portfolio. I may be misreading this one, Longhorn can follow-up.
