RE: UCLA / USC to the Big 10
if this comes to fruition, i honestly couldnt tell you who comes out on top the pac 12 or the big 12.. but its almost guaranteed some one is raiding the other

i want to lean towards the pac12, still numerous flagships and still elite academically... but basketball and football strenght will favor the big 12 by a lot... money is hard to predict...

This may be real real bad for the B12 adds as it now becomes a viable argument to poach the other B12 original names and move more towards the 16 X 4 super conference model.

Big 10 or PAC 12 take Gonzaga now?

Also I’ll love it if MWC gets raided and then in return takes UTEP and NMSU. Would finally kill off the zombie that is CUSA

Honestly there is no way of telling which could raid which between the Pac 12 and Big 12 at this point.

I do suspect that with a new stadium and being the only OTHER FBS team in Southern California that there might be some preliminary champagne popping already happening at SDSU.

I agree with you on that but this is all driven by football. But yes it could be 4 leagues with 16 schools.

SDSU might be the only non Big12 that they would look at to keep southern cal market and then look towards Big12.

Any possible way Pac 12 just adds Boise St and San Diego St and be done?

If Pac 12 raids. I think it will be Tech, Houston, Okie State, and Kansas.

Which will be good for teams like Memphis, SMU, USF. As they would get called up, IMO.

However. If it goes the opposite way, the chances for those schools getting invited up drop significantly.

Losing those two wouldn't kill C-USA, it would probably make them better. Could become more geographically sound.

Oh sure. Doesn't mean the MWC doesn't try to back-fill.

No there isn't and it all may depend on whether or not the B10 stops at just USC/UCLA or grabs a few more in the process to really decapitate the PAC12.

The other option is that with the loss of USC/UCLA by the PAC12 along with the loss of UT/OU by the Big12, no teams from either conference see value in moving. Under that scenario the PAC12 probably just plucks say Boise St. and San Diego St. from the MWC and the AAC is not touched.

Nah it was location that killed the PAC. Jon Wilner made it clear months ago the PAC 12 was in a worse situation than the Big12. If anything the Big 12 either poaches and gets a great deal or gets poached. But TV money ain’t dropping if the B12 does the poaching.

Yes but only if the Big 10 is done. If USC and UCLA are in talks it stands to reason that Stanford and Cal are coming up in those conversations; Oregon and Washington too. I can’t imagine the Big 10 is only interested in a minority share of the West Coast. They are

Which means a total expansion of 4-6 is on the table and THAT is a guaranteed earth mover

This ends up with two super leagues of 20-24. BigTen and SEC and they split from rest. Welcome to the NFL minor league

no, they won't just accept 2nd tier status , oregon, wazzu, arizona wont accept being 2nd tier, which this move would make ..

they will definitely power play for the big 12 teams, especially kansas .. and likely even gonzaga too..

At this point there is very little chance ANY conference goes past 16. I think many are going to want to wait a few years and see how 16 team conferences work out until making a decision.

The Big12 lacks the big hitters and markets, their best hope is that the PAC gets raided by BigTen from more than USC and UCLA. Time will tell but is really doesn’t look good for anyone outside BigTen andcSEC

Mostly likely, but wouldn’t be surprised if the B12 poaches AZ and AZ St.

B12 >>>>>>> PAC leftovers at this point

Good point, but without Boise St. and San Diego St. where are they going to go? At that point I doubt that any AAC team is going to move, SunBelt maybe but limited geographical candidates there (Texas St.?), most likely the MWC raids an already weakened C-USA from UTEP and New Mexico St.

I think its bad new for the nB12.

I think the PAC gets some nB12 teams.

I don’t think Kansas sniffs the PAC. Gonzaga is a great basketball school but no chance they sniff an invite without a football team.
