Exclamation GENERAL FOOTBALL DISCUSSION - AAC AND C-USA6 TEAMS
.

This started out as a scoreboard thread, but I'm switching it over to a discussion thread to discuss AAC football, including the C-USA6.

If you're interested, skip down to the end of this thread, where the discussion will continue.

.

UTSA has played well the first two weeks of this season vs. two of the better non-P5 teams in the country. They could easily be 2-0, rather than 1-1 at this point, with their one loss coming in triple OT @ Houston.

UTSA will be a welcome addition to the AAC.

Agree. UTSA will fit well in the All Acronym Conference.

Memphis and Navy are slugging it out in a hard-fought game so far. Could be interesting. So are Houston and Texas Tech in the early-going of their game.

The news of the day for Temple is that (former NFL QB Curt Warner's son) EJ Warner has established himself as Temple's Quarterback in this game. He's done a great job today - - much better than either of Temple's other QBs.

Also of note, Temple player DeVon Fox blocked 3 punts in the game, which may be a NCAA D1 record for blocked punts in a game by one player.

Corrected. USF's game vs. Howard is now listed in the scoreboard.

Since there's no official SMU game thread...congrats to the Mustangs! Along with Tulane, you are now undefeated 2-0. Interesting that the two quietest fan bases on this board are tied for first in the conference.

Hey Pony94!
04-cheers

“For the record”… UAB *lost* to Liberty by that 14-21 score, not the other way around.

There's a lot to be hopeful about in this scoreboard.
  • The present and future AAC teams won 13 of the 15 games (not incl. Mem v Navy) that were played.
    .
  • They scored over 30 ppg, on average.
    .
  • There were no upsets of AAC teams by FCS teams.
    .
  • Houston & UCF both came within 1 score of beating a P5 team.
    .
  • ECU beat ODU, which beat (P5) VT last week, proving that their strong performance vs. NC State wasn't a fluke.
    .
  • UTSA showed, for the second week in a row, that they're one of the upper echelon G5 teams this season.

I apologize. Our performance was embarrassing and inexcusable. You are not going to win any games fumbling four times.

AAC football discussion thread, continued
.
(WEEK 3)

What a day, full of ups and downs

Major ups, so far: Tulane beats K State

Major disappointment: Houston falls to Kansas.

Surprises:

1. Temple comes within a field goal of beating Rutgers, despite being expected to lose by double digits.

2. Rice Louisiana leads in the second half!

3. Other developments: SMU is tied with Maryland 20-20 in the second half. This figured to be a fairly close game.

4. UCF is only leading FAU by 9 in the 3rd quarter. This is an encouraging sign for the AAC 2.0 next season.

5. Equally encouraging for the future of AAC FB, USF is only trailing Florida by 3 pts in the 3rd quarter.

6.. Tulsa blew Jax State away 47-10, also encouraging. Tulsa notably lost to Wyoming by only 3 points, and Wyoming beat Air Force today.
