RE: Saturday Ratings: The CW Airs College Football Nationally for the First Time
The ratings really fell off the last 2 weeks, interesting we get a CW double header Saturday one of those being FSU vs N.Alabama, maybe people will misread it and think it’s FSU vs the real Alabama and we get a ratings grand slam.

I agree...as cable cutting continues it is good to have an OTA outlet for our Tier 3.

The RSNs used to be T2 (picked ahead of the old OTA patchwork syndicated network, and that ahead of ESPN3 exclusives). Is it just T3 content on The CW?
In 2012 the agreement was: The deal will provide premier content to numerous ESPN multimedia platforms, including ESPN, ESPN on ABC, ESPN2, WatchESPN.com, ESPNU, ESPN3, ESPN 3D, ESPN Mobile TV, ESPN GamePlan, ESPN FULL COURT, ESPN Buzzer Beater/Goal Line, ESPN International, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Classic and ESPN.com.

The following article broke it down better:

T1- ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC: The networks will televise ACC games each week, including Thursday, Saturday and a Labor Day Monday telecast each season. The ACC Football Championship Game will continue to be televised each year on ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC.

T2-ESPNU: The 24hour college sports network, currently distributed in more than 70 million households, will continue to televise ACC football.

T3- Syndication: ESPN will sublicense games to Raycom Sports and potentially to additional national outlets. As part of the agreement, Raycom Sports will produce and distribute a package of games for overtheair syndication and for the first time, an additional package of games through regional cable syndication in the ACC markets and beyond.

T3-ESPN3.com: Exclusive ACC game presentations as well as simulcasts will be offered on the broadband network.

https://wwwcache.wralsportsfan.com/asset...eement.pdf

Here is our Current 2023 TV Channel selection setup:

T1- ESPN, ESPN2 and ABC

T2- ACC Network

T3- THE CW: ESPN will sublicense games to Raycom Sports who produce and broadcast the games for THE CW. (FB, MBB, & WBB)

T3-ACCNX/ESPN+: I think a few games per year vs FCS (like 2 FB games this year)

Quick Fact: With the announcement of the Week 12 game for 2023 times and networks, to date, 21 ACC contests are scheduled for national ABC broadcasts, (The ACC has made 32 appearances on ABC, ESPN, and ESPN2 over the first 10 weeks of the season) while the ACC Network will have featured 37 games through 12 weeks.

This is good stuff.

I am curious about the ACCN's rating vs ESPN2. ESPN2 is a tier 1 but it looks like their rating number is even worse than the BTN's rating.
And ACCN is clearly better than ESPNU.

Eh, they're Sunday afternoon games in Nov/Dec. No man is watching men's basketball versus the NFL. They might get 30-40 women whose husbands went to the bar and aren't watching Hallmark Christmas movies. Otherwise my ABC is infomercials or other nonsense on Sunday fall.

And the SEC is also getting Texas and OU. So we will see many SEC games on ABC and ESPN.

Some Cal or Stanford games may on ESPN late night slot.

There are a lot of moving parts. First, ESPN lost 27 Big Ten games this season (-27) that were only replaced by ESPN's share of Big 12 expansion (about 12 games). For 2024, ESPN is picking up the CBS SEC package (+14) and the SEC adding OUT (+14); ESPN losing its 22 game PAC 12 package (-22); the Big 12 increasing from 14 to 16 schools (+6 or 7); and the ACC increasing from 14 to 17 schools (+20). This gives ESPN a net increase in P4/5 games of about 6 games from 2022 to 2024. With the opportunity to provide ESPN with 4+ 10:30 pm starts moving forward, I expect the ACC should maintain its total combined game count on ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 at 2023 levels for 2024 with the late night games offsetting any losses to the SEC.

Good info.

For 2023, the ACC is probably having more exposure because ESPN already lost the B10 content. For 2024, I think it’ll be all about the SEC.

I also think ESPN may have more content it needs. That’s one reason why I suspect we may see ESPN move many B12 teams (particularly Western teams) to the ACC and drop the B12 contract in 2030.

No surprise to anybody, but the late games did about twice as well as the early games through out the season. What is even a bigger surprise is that 1.33m people watched FSU vs a scrub.

Honestly, it shouldn't be a surprise.

FSU's TV ratings are pretty consistent. Variations are more about time and network. But the number is almost always large

2023 ACC FOOTBALL Tier 3 (13) Football Game Ratings on the CW

There were 8 games on daytime and 5 on primetime! The ACC Primetime avg of 720K viewers blows away anything the CW Broadcast this week. The day time avg of 338K would rank in top 10 of shows.

Day time avg:338K viewers

Primetime avg:720K viewers

Top day time Game per viewership:Clemson @ NC State, 2pm -642K viewers

Lowest day time Game per viewership:VMI @ NC State -205K viewers

Top primetime Game per viewership: N. Bama @ FSU, 6:30PM - 1.33M viewers

Lowest primetime Game per viewership: GT @ WAKE, 6:30pm - 332K viewers
