It takes UTSA to beat Tulane and SMU to knock out the AAC. OR SMU to slip to Navy then win the AAC... Honestly SMUs resume with 2 losses is still not a shoe in vs. UT. Likely they go because of name brand and margin of victories along the way, but maybe because they're going to the ACC, the committee penalizes them for their access will be much easier than Toledos going forward (doubtful). Losses to TCU and Oklahoma aren't great. Neither by 1 score, but were competitive... Their computer rankings will shoot up this week. Toledos will stay the same. A Miami or SJSU loss will doom the Rockets. The chance SJSU wins the MWC isn't zero, and would bolster Toledos resume quite a bit.

Just as I suspected, JMU ended up being frauds, afterall.....Losing at home to a 6-4 App State is pretty bad. Not to take anything away from their great season, but I knew they were not worthy of the Top 25, or the access bowl. Finally, they will shut up!!!!!!!!!!!

Frauds? Did you watch the game? Have you watched any of their games or App State’s games this season? App State is legit, they lost to UNC by 6 when they were ranked high and playing well, they lost to other solid bowl bound teams by 3, 3, and 7, and have been peaking going in to the end of the season. Losing in OT on a play where the ball broke the plane by a whisker before coming lose and fumbling out of the endzone was one helluva heartbreaking finish to set them back at 10-1. How embarrassing to be only 10-1 while still transitioning from FCS, even with the setback they’re still top 25, coming in at 24.
BTW, what is your MAC school? Do you even have one?

Agree. They'd be favored over Toledo, and likely every other MAC team by double digits. But that's likely because a bowl matchup between the MAC and SBC has been in the south every time but twice. FIU and MTSU played in Detroit... but that's it.

Really hard to win all 12 games on a regular season schedule no matter the conference.
Extra kick in the cajones for JMU to lose on the day when Game Day is on your campus. I thought they were going to pull another rabbit out of a hat when the completed a 4th-and-17 and tied it up.

Whether you think JMU deserved the access bowl consideration or not, they have a point about the stupid NCAA rules.

It would be too easy to jump to FBS to get a cut of revenues. The rules aren't that stupid.
Even with a good country club, it might take time to get a full membership.

The revenue cut goes to the conference who then divides it up, so that doesn't matter as in the transition the conference doesn't provide them their full revenue cut. The fight for bowl eligibility and potential $4mil from an NY6 bowl was money going to the SBC not the school.

The MAC benefits from these rules, which put some friction in elevation to FBS.

Yeah, but does JMU have to wait out 2 years to end up getting said cut?

Yes, they don’t get a full revenue cut until next year.
Quote: According to 2021 tax filings, the Sun Belt distributed approximately $1.56 million to its members. The conference has since expanded to 14 teams with the addition of JMU, Old Dominion, Marshall and Southern Miss, subsequently renegotiating and extending a media rights deal with ESPN that is expected to up the conference distribution to more than $2 million per school depending on other factors such as postseason success.
While that’s significantly more than the Dukes earned in the Colonial Athletic Association, it still leaves JMU and ODU tens of millions of dollars behind the likes of Virginia and Virginia Tech in the ACC.
And in JMU’s case, as a member transitioning from FCS to FBS in football, the Dukes won’t receive a full share of the conference distribution until after the upcoming school year.
“The one thing that we did know going into this process was we had to plan for two years of maybe not being able to compete, or receive a full share of conference revenue,” JMU athletic director Jeff Bourne said. “The good news is we’re prepared for that.”
https://www.dnronline.com/sun_belt_extra...5c805.html
Quote: Initially, JMU’s FBS-specific expenses will outpace its gains — it’s not until 2027-28 that it’ll flip. This change comes when the Sun Belt’s conference distributions for JMU — money from its ESPN deal and shares from the College Football Playoff (CFP) — increase to $2.5 million. JMU will receive $600,000 from the conference until 2023-24, $1.5 million annually for the next three academic years starting in 2024, then $2.5 million for the last two years each of the transition. JMU didn’t receive any conference distribution money from CAA football with its subscriber-based FloSports streaming partnership and no CFP shares as an FCS conference.

How JMU shares in the revenues to the SBC depends on the SBC's rules, but the part of the CFP revenue that is $300,000 per FBS school would obviously be based on the FBS schools in the SBC, not on the FBS and "soon to be" FBS schools, so it would not be shocking if the rule were to say you get that $300,000 when your presence in the conference attracts it.
