Looks like it's already been done for us. We still play Texas and are losing OSU.

RE: If you HAD to: Which rival would you keep, which would you drop?
Vanderbilt (for various reasons) has not had a true SEC rival (if ever) in years. Tennessee has dominated us in football for so long ... I've given up hope. Who is there to keep as a "rival" (Missouri or Kentucky?) or drop?

Memphis (and most folks on this board know I'm not happy with the UofM being in the AAC) ... should be "league affiliated" with Cincinnati and Louisville — but is not. As to the AAC, the school that is most "Memphis like" related to location/demographics, sports and academics is UAB. And am glad to have the Birmingham Blazers as a rival. It makes sense to have UAB in the AAC.

As to DePaul ... the "best" rival is Marquette for geographic and long-standing/historic reasons.

And this is where the circle of rivalries gets complicated, because while I did always enjoy the battle for the Keg of Nails, I certainly wouldn't bring it back at the expense of our annual battle for the Governor's Cup with Kentucky...who in turn may actually want to get out of it due to increasing demands of the SEC schedule.

On the EKU side of my fandom, in 2024 I don't have to pick because for one year we're renewing both of our traditional but dormant instate rivalry games with WKU and Morehead State.

The ACC’s 8-game conference schedule could accommodate playing both UC and UK—toss in a pair or rent-a-victims, and you’re all set. Louisville is kind of out on an island in the ACC. I think it would be good for you to have another regional and historic rival on a permanent basis.

I completely agree (except that we're in pretty comfortable driving distance from almost the entire conference save for the new western members). My comment wasn't about Louisville's end though. It's more about Kentucky's viewpoint on the situation.

Vial, like a small container? Or vile, like really evil?

It depends on which aspect you wish to emphasize at the time.

Wait we did that already.

Keep USC ---- Drop Navy

Co-signed.

I understand. The Mids have to keep the Zoomies and the Cadets so in this scenario. ND would be the only option.

Probably Texas or SMU, no?

Also, gee, now that you mention that, maybe we should keep y'all as well. Our little rivalry is pretty fun, isn't it?

I'm changing my original answer. Keep Rice, bring back Texas, drop, um, Tulsa...I...guess.

I’d like to see a regional extension of the governor’s cup to make it a regional challenge: UC, UL, UK and either Indiana or Purdue. Rotate the series every two years. Of course that will never happen.

The MAC has now moved to pods.

I: NIU, BGSU, Toledo (glamour pod)
II: WMU, CMU, EMU
III: Ball St, Miami, Ohio
IV: Buffalo, Akron, Kent

I guess then Ball St is now a permenant rival.

I'd like to switch out with NIU, biggest media market in the MAC. But not something in the "cards" as Miami-Ball St will stay together as a border war.

Ohio, Miami, NIU
