The only places scarier than the Pallouse is the wheat belt in Manitoba/Alberta/Saschatewan, the AlCan highway between Tok and Whitehorse Yukon, and the Nevada/Oregon land between Pyramid Lake and Boise.
It's distance and vastness that are Biblical and makes Blacksburg/Christiansburg look like a metropolis. Makes Tallahassee seem just around the corner. Makes Western Kansas seem tolerable.

Forget SMU, y’all squeezed Stanford and Cal for 30%, so OSU and WSU would come for free as well. All of the G5’s mentioned will give their left nut and PAY to join!

I would think SMU would be opposed to western expansion especially with G5 call ups. It's y'all that will be playing them.

Um, I’m not the one advocating for them on this board. My point is simply that if Cal and Stanford had to take 70% less to gain admission, then OSU and WSU aren’t getting in period. As for G5’s, outside of implosion I don’t see any of them with a chance even for free.

I caution that this is a very small sample size in that 7 year period. If the networks really liked them so much then why did Cal have only 4 games picked up by a major network? How many Stanford’s games were boosted by ND? I’m not impressed.

1. Stanford TV ratings definitely get a boost from playing Notre Dame annually.
2. Don't be misled: Cal and Stanford have a baseline higher than OSU and WSU.

Calford have been bad in football for a few years.
Wazzu and Oregon State have been contenders.
Even so, the latter are only barely ahead in viewership.
When it was the other way around (10 years ago), Calford blew them out of the water - MUCH higher upside.

Currently sucking in football cost them some serious dough in this move, but I would imagine it has been a huge wake-up call. Stanford has already reversed their position on NIL. In my opinion the ACC got a steal because they were desperate. They weren’t going to down to the Big 12, and they most certainly weren’t going to rebuild the Pac with the likes of Boise etc.

Cal and Stan were very public about not playing Fresno St or Boise St. They were ok with SDSU.

That’s fair. California and Stanford are ACC/B1G type of schools. There are no such schools in the MWC to associate with. San Diego St is a positive for a dozen reasons that don’t apply to Boise St or Fresno St.

SDSU is a good school, outside of football.
