58% to 31% is unconscionable. They should insist on a near equal payout for the P4. Call their bluff and we'll go back to college athletics if they breakaway. This runaway greed is disgusting. Guaranteed byes are stupid and indefensible. It would be like the Dallas Cowboys getting a bye just for having more fans.

I think that would be a mistake.

Each iteration of the playoff keeps getting more slanted. Let them breakaway if they don’t like it.

Exactly. Make them do it now instead of a slow bleed out. Their greed and exclusionary goals will be exposed, but they'll make enough money to assuage any misgivings they might have.

It’s obvious why particularly the Big Ten is pushing for a guaranteed bye and guaranteed slots in addition to the lion’s share of revenue: they don’t get it done on the field. This is only their third natty this century and it’s highly controversial including their coach leaving on the first train out west.

The Big Ten is scared of not performing. Why? Because for the most part they haven’t performed well in anything except viewership.

IMO the playoff should be eat what you kill. Top 2 in the polls (or top two champs) get the byes—regardless of the conference—and the payout is distributed more and more each round. Guarantee the top 5 champs a spot, and perhaps the top 4 a home game at least.

It’s not a true playoff if the predetermined outweighs the performance. It’s gimmicky and it’s gaming the system based on fanbases, which is absurd.

Join the Big 10 and SEC in a breakaway and we can make that percentage better—the Big 12 and ACC can split the G5’s cut.

Problem with "eat what you kill" is that you're not allowed to set foot on the hunting grounds!

I prefer predetermined payouts. The idea of a committee that's filled with ACC haters deciding how much money the ACC will get doesn't appeal to me at all.

As long as you understand what happens when they say ok we'll just do our own thing. The vast majority of the media and CFP money will go with them and every single team that even remotely has a chance will try to get into the Big 10 or SEC. They know they have positioning.. that's why they're doing it.

Use computer rankings for the money portion. If each difference in rank is worth $500k, you’ll open the committee up to all sorts of unsavory influences.

However, the B1G/SEC would want to have the lions share of that G5 cut. Their greed at this point is overwhelming.

My thought is that the ACC and B12 should threaten to go forward with an NCAA football championship proposal. That would dramatically reduce the value of a B1G-SEC championship. Of course, who knows how much an NCAA football championship would pay?

Not a bad idea. With Notre Dame in tow.

Back to a BCS system with meaningful bowl games that players want to play in.

Gimmie Cotton, Fiesta, CFA, Orange with a +1 game. 6 teams play, the 2 best that are left over play the NC game.

ACC & Big 12 presidents voted Wednesday to authorize their commissioners to adopt the new CFP framework, sources tell @YahooSports.

From P5 to M2. Should we even bother playing football at this point?

RE: The ACC and Big12 should not agree to B1G/SEC CFP financial proposal
The new contract with ESPN is expected to be worth $1.3 billion annually starting in 2026
- The Big Ten and SEC would combine to earn about 58% of the CFP’s base distribution. (754M total or 377M per conf [23.5M per SEC school & 20.9M per Big10 school)
- The ACC and Big 12 would combine to earn about 32% of the CFP’s base distribution. (ACC gets 17% & Big12 gets 15%(ACC would divided 221M per conf or 13M per school while the Big12 would split 195M or 12.1M per school)
- Roughly (10%) will be distributed to Notre Dame and the 64 Group of Five teams. (ND gets 1% or 13M & the 64 G5 get 1.8M)

New CFP Payouts starting in 2026 Per Yahoo
SEC: 23.5M per school
BIG: 20.9M per School
ACC: 13M per school
ND: 13M
Big12: 12.1M per school
G5: 1.8M per school
