This is probably a dumb question but are the seeds locked into certain locations? Why does Charlotte have to get the 10 seed? Is there a list somewhere?

Nobody is technically locked in until selection day. It all depends what the committee decides. Some analysts typically guess pretty close.

Charlotte will host 2, 7, 10, 15 seeds according to the bracket.

Selfishly... Omaha or Salt Lake would be drivable for me. To maximize JMU support... would like to see Charlotte.

Joe Lunardi has been pretty consistent that Brooklyn gets a 1/16 + 8/9 pod and a 6/11 + 3/14 pod, BUT the 11 seed is the first four play-in which we're not eligible for (can't be an AQ). If that holds, then unless we get bumped up to a 9 seed Brooklyn is off the table. Which I am selfishly sad about.

I grew up in Pittsburgh and still have lots of family there. If that's the draw, we can all sleep in my cousin's shed. It has insulation.

Look for Puke and UNC-Cheat to be in Charlotte

The play-in games all take place in Dayton (both the 16s and the last four in at large games). Also, it isn't guaranteed the two at-large games will feature 11 seeds. Some years they've been 12s and I believe was even a 14s matchup once. It's sounding more like Drake and JMU will be 11s so you may see one of the play-in games be on the 12 line.

Do they have a Pittsburgh toilet in their basement so we can get the full yinzer experience?

They did! But alas, they remodeled.

There's a Crowne Plaza Suites nearby that I would recommend, if. It's seven miles from the arena but probably one-third the cost of the downtown hotels at tournament time. A straight shot of a drive and the parking downtown isn't bad.

Obviously it would suck for most of us but crossing my fingers for Salt Lake. And with friends who are BYU fans, that matchup would be chefs kiss.

Long shot but my son told me Utah State is projected as a 7, so tiny possibility we get matched up with them which I would also love. Though I’ve seen them in person and they are really good, with more size than us.

How nice is it to be speculating where we are going as opposed to if we are going?

SOOOO nice!
Due to Arkansas State being in the final and not App State, I think it would have been very likely that we would have been left out. Then all the talk would have been about 'how do you leave out a 30 win team in the tournament?' We would have made history in ways you don't really want to make history. Thinking about it felt a little like JMU being left out of the NY6 discussion. Deserve to be in it, but inevitably looking from the outside in.
But this team took care of business and earned their spot in definitive fashion. I do kind of expect some disappointment in where the committee puts us, but not as much as in year's past.
But think about it this way: imagine being the other team. They are going to have to face (most likely) a double digit seeded team that has:
-lost to only two teams all season
-best away game record in D-I
-undefeated before and after January
-has players with tournament experience
and the list goes on and on
Honestly... what team in their right mind would want to play us right now and especially in the first round of this tournament?

RE: March Madness Travel
Brooklyn, Charlotte and Pittsburgh are the best 3 options for most of us and maybe Memphis.

Brooklyn is the only one of the 3 with a Friday game. Charlotte would be great but travel on Wednesday probably. Same with Pittsburgh.

They usually announce late Sunday night the times of the games. Could be anywhere between a noon tip and a 10pm tip.

If we end up as an 11 seed, hope we avoid the play in.

The only auto bids that can be in the play-in game are at the 16 seed level, which we will be much higher than.

The 11 (or 12 line) play in will exclusively be teams that didn't win their conference. They will be the "last four in" basically.

Somebody mentioned play ins being locked in to locations and I don’t believe that is true.

The four play-in games will be in Dayton on 3/19 and 3/20. The winning teams will then travel to their regional site destinations which will be announced this Sunday.
