That would elevate them above us in perception worse than ever and it would be game over.

No G5 showed any "fight" in these negotiations.

As much as we dump on Aresco & the AAC he usually is outspoken on behalf of the them. I like Gill but sometimes wish he were a little more outspoken about our own conference.

The phrase “much sound and fury signifying nothing” comes to mind having listened to Aresco the past 10 years.

This is definitely true overall, although to be fair, it's tough when the folks he's making a point to can just take all the assets he uses to make the point. I'm not sure if there's a way to be successful in that role.

Exactly. It was never going to be any different than this. No one wanted to be the one that stood in front of the guillotine for themselves nor their program or conference. The only options really were either lay down or be excluded from the CFP altogether. A lot of super tough fans may be alright with never playing the big boys but the average fan isn't going to love that at all.

The fight is remaining FBS. That’s the act of defiance in the situation. The moment the G5 leaves to form their own playoffs is the moment they’ve given the P2 exactly what they’ve wanted. The plan is to systematically starve the G5 through media control until a significant portion of schools decide to go away by themselves. I’d much rather force them to leave and do their own thing without the G5 just downgrading themselves.

Oregon and Washington state were able to somehow get a 3 million dollar deal
