Good luck SMU, we shall take your money but you may be on your own afterwards...or a few of us may be joining you. We shall see.

Surely there is a clause to protect SMU from being completely hosed. If the ACC ends up having to do significant backfills and SMU is still getting no media payout for nine years... while new additions like USF, Memphis, Tulane do get payouts. That would be quite the kick in the nuts.

If any school leaves, we instantaneously start receiving money and gain access to exit fees

That is a smart move. Makes the "no media payouts" less of an issue. FSU and/or Clemson will find a way out before too long.

When UConn left the fee was $10 mil and they paid $17 mil to depart early.

Houston, Cincy, and UCF each paid $18 mil to depart early, but they will pay that amount over 14 years. Not sure what the time table for UConn was, probably similar.

"Early" in this context is before the normal 27 month notice period.

kinda. they each had to pay 10 million within 24 months (the actual exit fee) and the early exit money is paid within 14 years.

Record it, then charge people to watch, donate the money to TU on condition of us firing/retiring our shakey AD.

Thank God our women's sports teams are doing something because we know our men's coaches have at least ten years of trash performances before we'll consider making a move.

SMU's Exit Fees
SMU will end up in a depleted acc or a depleted pac when it's all said and done

Most AAC teams will be hoping to join them in the depleted acc if they can get spots. So they have that over other aac schools , but the valuable acc teams will be gone

That is what the lawsuit is about (from both Clemson and FSU), they don’t think they should have to pay the exit fees or be held to the GOR.
