AAC Basketball Transfer Portal Thread
I guess I'll get this started since ECU already had a big loss to the portal on day 1. Brandon Johnson has entered the portal for his final year of eligibility.

The first for ECU but certainly won't be the last

Mekhi Mason probably in the portal for Rice. That will be a big loss but we kind of expected it - coaching change or not.

This is not a surprise, he has his degree. Best of luck to him wherever he lands.

So far for Wichita:
Jalen Ricks (left the team before the season anyways)
Isaac Abidde (never really played this year).

Hoping for 1 or 2 others to bolt so we can try to level up a bit. If no others leave, we will have 7 seniors next year (at least) so it will be a rough rebuild the year after.

Currently 2 scholarships open.

According to one of the Tiger beat writers, the going NIL amount for a "nationally competitive" P6 starting five is at least $1 million and amount for team is at least $1.5 million (per a Big12 coach) and an average $150K for a "starting caliber" player (per a BE coach).

Memphis apparently was able to find donors last season to adequately fund NIL and they will need to open their wallets again. I am but a minnow among the whales, but I will double my NIL collective contribution today. I figure it is more effective than carping about the coach.

Unfortunately that's the best we can do. Idk what USF's NIL looks like, I do think we're relatively well-funded, but I believe most of it goes to football. I don't see us losing anyone this year to NIL-related transfers, but I do expect at least 1-2 to leave for playing time. Feel bad for saying it after the season we had, but we need a few spots to open to recruit a big man or two.

It'll be interesting to see how NIL amounts fluctuate from year to year between schools. Kyle Neptune told Villanova people he would win big if he had more NIL money, so the boosters gave him $3M for a team and he lost in the first round of the NIT. I really doubt he has that much next season.

Those were a few of the needed "additions by subtractions." Several more are needed.

Adding to this:

Quincy Ballard announced he's staying (big win)

I don't know about you all, but this new reality sucks. Not sure how it's sustainable.
